Millicent

Millicent is an NPC cooperator in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

Millicent is a red-haired woman afflicted by Scarlet Rot. She and her sisters were found in the Swamp of Aeonia in Caelid by Sage Gowry, who raised them as his daughters.^[1] Her four sisters travelled to Miquella's Haligtree under Gowry's guidance^[2], however Millicent alone remained behind.

At Gowry's behest,^[3] the Tarnished obtains an Unalloyed Gold Needle and brings it to the Church of the Plague, where Millicent is slowly succumbing to the Rot. The Tarnished uses the needle to stall the Rot, allowing Millicent to regain lucidity.^[4] However, her memories appear to have been affected by her sickness, as when she struggles to remember Gowry upon returning to his shack to find it abandoned.^[5]

Millicent sets off on a journey across the Lands Between, retracing the route taken by Malenia, Blade of Miquella after the battle of Aeonia.^[6] She once again meets the Tarnished on the Altus Plateau, where they present her with a Valkyrie's Prosthesis to replace her missing sword arm.^[7]

Millicent's journey takes her to the Mountaintops of the Giants, in search of a fort containing a medallion which will allow her to access the Haligtree.^[8] After the Tarnished claims the medallion and travels to the Consecrated Snowfield, Millicent makes her way to the Haligtree, and to Elphael, the city at its base. Here, she reveals to the Tarnished that she is of Malenia's blood, although she is unsure whether she is a sister, daughter, or offshoot of the Demigod.^[9] Unbeknownst to Millicent, however, the Tarnished has been advised by Gowry to assist his remaining four daughters in killing Millicent, so that she can be reborn as a scarlet valkyrie when Malenia ascends to godhood.^[10]

The Tarnished may then make a choice: kill Millicent alongside her four sisters, or fight alongside her against the attackers. Should the Tarnished kill Millicent, she will become a scarlet aeonia flower, waiting for Malenia's ascension. If the player fights alongside her, she will remove the needle from her body, allowing her to succumb to the Rot.

Questline Progression[]

1. Caelid (Swamp of Aeonia)
   • (Optional) Millicent can invade in the south-eastern part of the Swamp of Aeonia.
2. Caelid (Swamp of Aeonia and Gowry's Shack)
   • Defeat Commander O'Niel to obtain the Unalloyed Gold Needle and bring it to Gowry. Reload the area and speak to Gowry again to obtain the repaired needle.
3. Caelid (Church of the Plague)
   • Give Millicent the Unalloyed Gold Needle, then rest at the Site of Grace and exhaust her dialogue.
4. Caelid (Gowry's Shack)
   • Return to Gowry's Shack and exhaust Millicent's dialogue.
5. Altus Plateau (Erdtree-Gazing Hill Ruins)
   • Find Millicent on a hill north of the Erdtree Gazing Hill Site of Grace.
   • Go to the Shaded Castle and find the Valkyrie's Prosthesis in a treasure chest.
   • Return to Millicent and give her the Valkyrie's Prosthesis.
   • Millicent will now be available as a summon for the following bosses: Godskin Apostle (Windmill Heights), Draconic Tree Sentinel (Capital Outskirts), Black Blade Kindred (Forbidden Lands).
6. Altus Plateau (Dominula, Windmill Village)
   • After defeating the Godskin Apostle, speak to Millicent near the Site of Grace of the battle and exhaust her dialogue.
7. Mountaintops of the Giants
   • Find Millicent beside the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace and exhaust her dialogue.
8. Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
   • Find Millicent next to the Prayer Room Site of Grace and exhaust her dialogue.
   • (Optional) Speaking to Gowry at this point will cause him to provide new dialogue explaining the next part of the questline.
9. Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree.
   • After defeating the Putrid Tree Spirit there will be two summon signs on the right ledge above the Scarlet Rot pool, both very close to each other.
   • Selecting the gold summon sign will send you into Millicent's world to help her fight off four NPCs: Mary, Eldest Sister; Maureen, Second Sister; Amy, Third Sister; Polyanna, Youngest Sister. Doing so will reward you with the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. After the fight, find Millicent lying beside the poison pool and speak to her to end her quest. Afterwards, after exhausting his dialogue, Gowry will drop the Flock's Canvas Talisman if killed. Only if Millicent was assisted, Malenia will drop Miquella's Needle when revisiting the area after defeated.
   • Selecting the red summon sign will send you into Millicent's world in order to kill her alongside the aforementioned NPCs. Doing so will reward you with Millicent's Prosthesis; an Aeonian Bloom will appear in your world, and Gowry will disappear but leave a Flock's Canvas Talisman.

Notes[]

• Millicent's questline can still be started even after defeating Malenia.
