Mad Pumpkin Head is an enemy in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

Gigantic humanoids with brawny physiques, known for their distinct oval helmets. They are former gladiators, broken and driven mad[1]. Their helmets are pitch black inside, intended to keep the warriors from panicking, and to alleviate feelings of pressure and claustrophobia.[2]

They typically wield hammers with crude, stone heads, or spiky Chainlink Flails. Sometimes they can be seen carrying standards, which they will drive into the ground or throw at foes when initiating combat.

Their heads heavily reduce the damage of any attack that hits it.

Variant Description[]

Pumpkin Head warriors that wield spiked flails, capable of inflicting Blood Loss.

Bosses[]

Background[]

A flail-wielding Pumpkin Head found in a cellar beneath Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave. The warrior obstructs the entrance to a second chamber, where Sorceress Sellen resides.

Strategies[]

The room isn't very big but the boss also isn't that quick or good at turning. If you are about to be boxed into a corner, try to run around it to recover or to hit it from behind so that the head's heavy damage reduction isn't applied. Astrologers will most likely want to be extra careful since their FP and its recovery will most likely be very low by this point, as will the variety in Sorceries.

Background[]

A pair of Mad Pumpkin Heads, one with a hammer and the other a flail. Both of their weapons have been lit on fire.

Strategies[]

The left Pumpkin Head will be sitting with its back as you enter, so make sure to attack it quickly to try and reduce this 1v2 to a 1v1.

It's possible to use Torrent in this fight, though it's unlikely to be useful due to how small the room is.
