The moon of Nokstella was the guide of countless stars.- Moon of Nokstella

The Black Moon was a celestial body in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

The black moon of Nokstella once illuminated the Eternal City, guiding the stars. It possessed potent magic, earning the reverence of the Nox. At some point, the black moon shattered, and its fragments were scattered across the Lands Between.[1] These Memory Stones were coveted by glintstone sorcerers, who crafted them into necklaces to enhance their magical prowess.[2]

Notes[]

  • The black moon may be related to the Eternal Darkness spell of Sellia, Town of Sorcery.[3]
  • Like other stars, the black moon may have been a living entity.[4][5][6]
  • The moon of Nokstella was immortalized in a legendary talisman.[1] This blue silver artifact depicts the beguiling black moon encircled by four blue jewels, each one forming a crescent at a cardinal direction. A sequence of eight secondary gemtones separates the darker primary gems. Twin Cuckoo birds crowns the symbolic lunar cycle, guarding its occult secrets.

Golden amber contains the remnants of ancient life, and houses its vitality, while glintstone contains residual life, and thus the vitality of the stars. It should not be forgotten, that glintstone sorcery is the study of the stars, and the life therein."
