Doofus Drake is a character from the DuckTales 1987 TV series who is reintroduced in the DuckTales 2017 TV series as an insane, spoiled and selfish rich duck.
Description[]
Doofus Drake is a round chump duck 10ā€“12-year-old child, sporting round glasses, a pink polo shirt with a dark blue jacket and tan pants.
Personality[]
Unlike the original Doofus, this version of Doofus is a fairly deranged character whose wealth has caused him to develop insane views. He has no qualms about destroying incredibly valuable objects for his own amusement, and even regards other people-including his own parents-as property that he can claim. The only individual for whom he seems to retain any respect is his late grandmother, who left him her fortune upon her death.
The money he inherited from his grandmother has turned Doofus into a terrible person with no regard for anyone else or even basic decency or consideration, as he treats his own parents as his butler and housemaid and deliberately made their lives miserable.
After his parents adopted B.O.Y.D., Doofus threw a fit that his parents showed favor and love for his newly-adoptive brother, and was absolutely furious when B.O.Y.D. claimed half of Doofus's fortune to share with his parents, which finally allowed them to regain their parental authority over Doofus and ground him indefinitely.
In The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck, Doofus has also been grateful to Louie when the latter apologized to him for what Louie did to Doofus.
History[]
Doofus reappears in the reboot, but his 2017's version is radically different from his original counterpart - rather than being a benevolent friend of the McDuck children, this version is a rich, spoiled heir who turned his parents into servants, and is one of the reboot's villains.
Season 1[]
Day of the Only Child![]
Louie tries to befriend Doofus only to find out about Doofus' unhealthy lifestyle. Doofus was apparently not always this way according to his parents, but after the passing of his grandmother Frances (or "Gummeemama", as he refers to her), Doofus was named inheritor of her fortune and became inconsiderate, controlling, and obsessive because of it. Since he has everything his heart desires, Doofus views everyone as a possession he can treat however he wants, with the exception of his beloved grandmother, although Doofus becomes hostile when her likeness is threatened. When not exhibiting his selfishness, Doofus has a tepid, peculiar disposition and seemingly indifferent about how his quirks may startle others.
Season 2[]
Treasure of the Found Lamp![]
Doofus trades a lamp Gladstone Gander bought for a blimp. He wanted the lamp to use as a gravy bowl, but then realized he could just make his father use his hands, so threw it away.
Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake![]
Doofus holds his Sept-leventh Birth-Anniversary party. It is attended by the Beagle Boys, Flintheart Glomgold with a ventriloquist dummy, Mark Beaks with his son "Boyd", Louie Duck with Goldie O'Gilt, among others, and throughout the night Doofus ejects the guests who haven't actually come with family members. Although he allows Glomgold to stay at first as he considered his act with his "son" soothing. Doofus does eventually kick Glomgold out after the dummy breaks. Louie and Goldie eventually expose Boyd (B.O.Y.D.) as a robot, so Doofus kicks Beaks out of the party but keeps B.O.Y.D. and orders it to kill Louie.
Goldie ends up stepping in front of B.O.Y.D. to get him to stop. To her and Louie's surprise, B.O.Y.D. shuts down and Doofus praises Louie and Goldie for passing the test. The whole ordeal was a test devised by Doofus to test their bonds of parenthood, just so Doofus could claim Goldie as his new "Goldiemama". Doofus relinquishes the gift bags to Louie and catapults him out.
Doofus encases Goldie in a glass prison and forces her to tell him stories. Louie eventually rescues Goldie and re-appropriates B.O.Y.D.'s settings to treat the Drakes as his parents; the two Drakes happily embrace their new adoptive son. Feeling betrayed, Doofus throws a tantrum and threatens to sever his parents' pay, but B.O.Y.D. transfers half of Doofus's inheritance to his own bank account, which he generously shares with his new parents. Now reassured by a truly loving son, Mrs. Drake sternly informs Doofus that he is grounded indefinitely, for which Doofus vows revenge on Louie.
Season 3[]
Astro B.O.Y.D.![]
When Gyro and Huey are viewing B.O.Y.D.'s memories where in one involving him, which takes place after "Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!", he tries to force him to break one of his mother's necklaces as revenge for not giving him gravy baths anymore. However, B.O.Y.D. refuses to break anything by knowing she will be upset if he breaks it, to which Doofus responds by angrily asking why "[he] insists on breaking [his] heart." B.O.Y.D. then apologizes and offers to hug him, which scares Doofus since he's afraid that he's "attacking him with love," before Gyro and Huey switch to a different memory.
How Santa Stole Christmas![]
While Doofus doesn't physically appear in-person, his name appears in a sweaty stocking that hangs under the portrait of Gummeemama next to B.O.Y.D.'s. Scrooge and Webby appear to be disgusted at Doofus' sweaty stocking, which causes Scrooge to throw Doofus' present in disgust.
The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck![]
Doofus makes a final major appearance in The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck! Where he attempts to get revenge on Louie as of what happened in Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!, to which he joined forces with Scrooge's other enemies like Ma Beagle, Magica De Spell, and Flintheart Glomgold to transport them to the celestial court to press charges against Scrooge. Louie is forced to be a defense attorney for Scrooge McDuck in order to prove that he is innocent. Magica ended up nearly winning the case when it was revealed that Scrooge decided to not help her when she accidentally turned her brother, Poe into a mindless raven while she was trying to turn Scrooge into one, therefore, leaving her devastated and trying to look for her brother, but failed. Louie, however, makes up to Doofus when he realized that he also messed up too and doesnā€™t want to have a longtime rivalry with him like Scrooge did with his enemies, at first Doofus looks at him menacingly, but expresses gratitude and thanks Louie for the apology, therefore, he abandons the case and leaves the courtroom happily.
Relationships[]
Louie Duck[]
In the episode "Day of the Only Child!", Louie tries to befriend Doofus only to find out about Doofus' unstable mind, which was brought on by the riches left to him by his deceased grandmother. While Louie and Doofus are alike from their spoiled selfish natures, Louie is of a more healthy mindset and is more sensitive to others because of his family ties. Even though Louie is disturbed by Doofus's antics, young Mr. Drake does enjoy the former's company at times. This changes the day of Doofus' birthday where Louie ingratiated a new baby brother into Doofus's family. B.O.Y.D. cuts Doofus's fortune to limit his power, and Doofus swears revenge on Louie.
However, this rivalry fades in "The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck!" when Louie apologizes to Doofus for what he had done to him and doesn't want to start an ongoing rivalry like Scrooge did with his own enemies. Doofus accepts the apology, thanks Louie and leaves the court.
Doofus routinely addresses Louie by his full first name Llewellyn.
B.O.Y.D.[]
B.O.Y.D. is an android found by Mark Beaks. When Doofus first meets B.O.Y.D., the latter has a positive, polite and friendly personality, and the two become fast friends. But after the truth[clarification needed] is revealed, Doofus uses B.O.Y.D. to try to hurt Louie. Louie later turned the tables and gave B.O.Y.D. to Doofus as a new baby brother whom Doofus's parents take an immediate shine to. Feeling betrayed, Doofus throws a tantrum and Mrs. Drake sternly informs Doofus that he is grounded indefinitely. Doofus now hates his adopted brother.

Trivia[]
- Doofus can be seen as a dark parallel to Louie as they are both kids who are greedy in their respective family, but there are differences between the two, Louie, despite his greediness, cares for everyone else, especially his own family, Doofus on the other hand, lets his greed consume him and treats everyone around him like slaves, including his parents.
- According to Frank Angones, the reason for Doofus being evil is because they wanted a foil to Louie on how money could ruin a person if left unchecked and because the writers disliked Doofus' characterization in the original show.
- This version of Doofus is roughly modeled after Anthony Fremont, the villainous boy played by Bill Mumy at the center of The Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life," where the central premise was an omnipotent boy becomes a monster because no one can tell him no.
- According to The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck! he is not allowed within 500 feet of a kangaroo.
