- This article is about the Demon gunman. For the episode of the same name, see Glorio (episode).
Glorio (グロリオ Gurorio) is a demon gunman from Demon Realm who accompanies Goku and Shin on their journey.
Concept and Creation[]
Glorio's name appears to come from "Gloriosa", a genus of flower.
Appearance[]
Glorio is a pale man with blue skin, spiky white hair and yellow eyes. Being a demon, he has his signature pointed ears. He wears a white shirt, black sash around his waist, a purple bomber jacket, blue pants with white linings, and black boots. He also has a light brown holster with a silver buckle strapped to his hip.
Personality[]
Glorio is a soft spoken and cryptic man who shows little to no emotions and always has a serious attitude. He is street smart as he knows how to get by some of the cruder parts of the Demon Realm and uses necessary force when needed otherwise being to himself to further maintain his low profile. He also seems to be very knowledgeable about each of the realms after quickly recognizing Shin as a member of the Glind.
His cryptic attitude has left him suspicious to Shin, who was surprised over the fact that Glorio, despite the restriction laws on travel, is able to work in the First Demon World while also being able to access its other two realms without anyone questioning him for it. Glorio claimed Goku had been requested by King Kadan and that he already had prior knowledge they were turned into children. But when Goku, Glorio and Shin met Kadan, the king was shocked to hear Goku had been turned into a child, and had no prior knowledge of Goku, showing Glorio purposefully lied to them. To further add to his suspicions, Glorio has a very vague approach to answering Shin's questions but so far has yet to be confronted about it. His duplicity is revealed when he calls Dr. Arinsu to update her on his mission, indicating she had hired Glorio as part of a job for her research.
He also appears to hold some disdain for Degesu and Gomah as he enlists the Dragon Team's help to overthrow them, telling Shin that was his reason for requesting their assistance. However, given Glorio's connection with Dr. Arinsu, it is currently unclear if this disdain is genuine or simply an excuse to fool the Dragon Team.
While Glorio is generally calm and composed, he still has his own sense of pride. He becomes greatly irritated with Goku for continuously mispronouncing his name, believing he is doing it on purpose. When Goku tells Glorio he will handle the Minotaur since it is too strong for him, Glorio feels insulted that Goku underestimates him. He challenges Goku to a duel to prove his strength to the Saiyan.
Biography[]
Background[]
Glorio originates from the Third Demon World, however at some point, Glorio was hired by Dr. Arinsu and so began living in the First Demon World.[1]
Dragon Ball Daima[]
Daima Saga[]
Inside the Demon King Palace, Glorio is hiding behind a pillar, spying on Gomah, Degesu, and Dr. Arinsu's conversation.[2] Two days later he arrived at the Lookout to recruit Goku to defeat Gomah, claiming to be acting on orders from the King of the Third Demon World. Shin also volunteered as did Piccolo and Vegeta, though only Shin was allowed to come as his plane only had three seats. He then left for the Demon Realm with Goku and Shin in tow.[3]
Beginning their journey to the Demon Realm, Glorio pilots a Demon Realm Plane to their first destination, a Sir Warp located at the Planet Batapi that acts as a transit point between the Outside World and the Demon Realm. Glorio gives the appropriate pin number, the trio are whisked away though unfortunately Shin is not able to contact Kibito in time to give him the pin number. Inside the relay point between the two realms Glorio explains to Goku that the Demon Realm is made up of three different worlds. Just then a band of bandits armed with bow and arrows attack Goku though Glorio is quick to scare them away with his weapon. Boarding the ship, Glorio heads for a town where they can spend the night before seeing King Kadan the next day. After arriving the trio head for a nearby hotel where the owner attempts to charge them extortionate prices for two rooms until Glorio successfully haggles for a much cheaper price after showing him his holstered weapon. The next morning after leaving the hotel, the small group make for Glorio's plane only to find it missing with a note now in its place attached to an axe.[4]
With his plane stolen, Glorio, Goku, and Shin continue their journey on foot as the environment is too difficult to fly in. They come across the Sea of Darkness and fly over it until a Demon Beast appears to eat Goku. Glorio kicks the beast back into the sea and they continue onward until Goku senses an ambush lying in wait. A giant demon appears from behind a boulder and Goku takes him out with a single kick. Glorio questions Goku about how he knew the demon was hiding and learns about Ki, an invisible type of energy and a concept that Glorio has never heard about before.
They then reach a tea shop to take a break in order to get something to eat. Glorio asks the owner for a plane, but he doesn't have one and instead offers a Sky Seed. Before leaving the shop, Goku has Glorio buy him some Medi Bugs and they go board the Sky Seed and are launched into the air. However, Glorio, Goku, and Shin then jump off at it before it falls into the Sea of Darkness. They then reach a town where the Gendarmerie demand higher offerings from the locals or give up some of their lifespan. They then watch a Masked figure attempt to interfere but is forced to flee until Goku steps in and causes a scene. Glorio, Goku, and Shin make a swift escape to the outskirts of the town where they once again meet the masked individual who reveals her identity and introduced herself as Panzy.[5]
When Panzy questions Goku's identity, Glorio is quick to point out that he is from the Second Demon World to avoid unnecessary questions and suspicions. The three begin to head off with Goku accidentally letting slip that they are on the way to Kadan Castle and so Panzy invites herself along despite Glorio's request for her not to follow. Eventually Glorio, Goku, Shin and Panzy reach Kadan Castle where they learn that Panzy is the Princess and daughter of King Kadan. Heading inside, they meet with the King and after proving to him that Goku was the one who defeated Majin Buu, they receive a plane and supplies along with Panzy joining them. However, mere moments after having taken to the air the engine begins to sputter, and the plane crash lands to the ground below[6] due to the heavy load.
After unloading the plane and Panzy fixing it, Glorio , Shin, and Panzy are confronted by two Gendarmerie soldiers looking for Goku, who has to use the bathroom, and ask what world they're from. Glorio says he's from the first, Shin says he's from the second and Panzy begrudgingly reveals the collar on her neck, signifying she's from the third. The officers ask if they've seen Goku, and Glorio lies, saying they haven't. Satisfied, the officers leave right as Goku returns from the bushes. The group then continue flying and Glorio listens as Shin explain the Glinds origins to Panzy and Goku. As night falls, Panzy offers to take a turn at piloting the plane, but Glorio decides it's best for them to rest for the night instead. They camp out in a cave and Panzy asks if Glorio was really from the First Demon World, which he confirms stating that he was hired for work there. Panzy wonders who hired him, but Glorio shuts down the conversation. When everyone has fallen asleep, Glorio steps outside to contact Arinsu to update her that they should arrive to the First Demon World in a few days. Arinsu requests that Glorio contact her if anything happens.
In the early morning, Shin and Glorio are awakened by trembling footsteps and a smelly stench. Panzy and Goku are woken up as a giant Minotaur arrives, and roars at them. Glorio offers to take on the Minotaur, but Goku chimes in saying he'll fight it. They both argue over who gets to and end up having a of match of their own to decide who gets to fight Minotaur. Goku ups the ante by stating he'll fight using only one arm. The battle begins with Goku and Glorio trading blows and dodging each other's moves. Glorio deploys another tactic using his own magic.
Goku watches as Glorio lifts his finger and a white ball of energy emerges with purple thunder starts to spark from it. He launches the attack as Goku dodges, leaving a smoking crater in the ground. Goku flies towards Glorio, dodging all of his lightning blasts. The Power Pole extends, hitting Glorio in the stomach and sending him flying into a nearby rockface. Glorio responds, launching an electric like whip which knocks the Power Pole out of Goku's hands. As Glorio charges an even stronger blast, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and blocks Glorio's attack with an open-hand strike. Goku then teleports behind Glorio, putting his hand behind his back and Glorio gives up, stating that Goku wins and asks if he has any other special skills. As the Minotaur retreats back into the cave, the group prepare to take their leave, but Goku needs to poop again.[1]
Glorio, Goku, Shin, and Panzy continue their journey towards the Tamagami when they are suddenly approached by the Gendarmerie who demand that they land the plane as they are still in search for a young child with spiky hair and a staff who attacked them previously. Complying with their demands, Glorio lands the plane and Goku heads towards the back to hide. After Glorio, Panzy, and Shin leave the plane, the Gendamerie search the plane but find nothing due to Goku using Instant Transmission. However, when the soldiers try to arrest Panzy under suspicion of being the masked individual, Glorio, Shin, and Goku defeat them and destroy their planes. They then continue their journey using one of the Gendamerie's planes after theirs' was destroyed in the battle and arrive at a village where Tamagami Number Three is located.[7] Glorio watches Goku defeat Tamagami Number Three to claim the Three-Star Dragon Ball and secretly contacts Dr. Arinsu to tell her the news. They then board the plane and make their way to Sir Warp in order to travel to the Second Demon World.[8]
Power[]
- Anime
Though Glorio is a capable fighter, he does not appear very adept at using his ki, instead using Magic. Instead, he prefers to use his gun and his magic when he gets serious.
Glorio easily defeats several demon bandits within seconds and topples a giant Demon Beast, impressing Goku to the point that he believed him to surpass Shin, though at the level of power he displayed Goku believed he could not defeat a Minotaur.
When fighting against Mini Goku in his base form, who restricts himself to using one arm, he is able to pressure Goku with his hand-to-hand combat and magic, despite not going all out himself earning some praise from Goku. When the two start to get serious, neither gets a clear upper hand against the other, with Glorio quickly recovering from Goku's attack and disarming him. Against Super Saiyan Goku, Glorio is outmatched, with Goku cancelling his strongest attack with an open-hand strike (though prior to it being launched, Goku is unsure if he will be able to stop it) then places his palm on Glorio's back before he can even react.
