"Hungarian Hiccups" is the third episode of Little Einsteins. It premiered on Playhouse Disney on October 10, 2005. In this episode, Rocket gets the hiccups before he's about to race Big Jet in the Great Sky Race, so the Einsteins must scare off his hiccups before it begins.

Plot[]

The Einsteins are flying with Rocket to the first day of the Great Sky Race, a huge race between flying machines that Rocket is participating in. Suddenly, Big Jet, who is also participating, appears and tauntingly circles over Rocket, worrying the latter. Leo encourages Rocket to not be nervous and focus on winning, restoring the latter's confidence. However, while Rocket is flying to the race, he suddenly gets the hiccups, something he never had before that causes him to fly backwards every time he hiccups, which can be a huge disadvantage if he goes to the race with them. Inspired by the times Annie got the hiccups, Leo declares a mission to surprise the hiccups out of Rocket so he can win the race. Quincy gets an idea to crash cymbals behind Rocket, which June suggests getting from the Orchestra Ocean, so the Einsteins head inside Rocket, do the pat sequence, and blast off.

Arriving at the Orchestra Ocean, June dances to the music until Rocket hiccups, causing her to lose her balance and fall backwards to her seat. Using Rocket's Look and Listen Scope, the Einsteins find the cymbals, grab them with Rocket's Clapper Catcher, and land at the beach near the Ocean so Quincy can crash the cymbals behind Rocket. While this surprises Rocket, it didn't cure his hiccups, saddening him. Annie gets an idea to surprise Rocket with a tiger, so the Einsteins head to the jungle. On their way, they notice that the Great Sky Race is starting soon and Big Jet is getting ready, so they hurry to their location.

At the jungle, the Einsteins meet the tiger and June asks him to roar to cure Rocket's hiccups. The team and the tiger creep slowly up to Rocket and roar loudly, surprising Rocket. However, this also didn't cure Rocket's hiccups. June gets an idea to surprise Rocket with a geyser, which Quincy finds as the biggest surprise for Rocket. After a few failed attempts to get into Rocket, the Einsteins head to the geyser. On their way, they notice that the other planes and jets are at the starting line for the race, so they hurry again.

At the geyser, Leo instructs the team to say "Splash!" when the music stops so the geyser can erupt below Rocket. After placing Rocket on the waterspout, they do so, sending Rocket up into the sky. However, Rocket's hiccups are still not cured. As soon as the Einsteins think that there might not be anything to surprise the hiccups away, a little mouse appears, scaring Rocket so much that he flies into the sky. As it turns out, the mouse surprised the hiccups out of Rocket, allowing him to return to the race, so the Einsteins blast off back to it.

Back at the Great Sky Race, Rocket starts at last place while Big Jet begins in the lead. The race soon begins, so the Einsteins pat to the beat of the music so Rocket can start flying. Rocket flies past the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Great Pyramids in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona on his way to first place, passing by every other flying machine. Rocket finally catches up to Big Jet and goes bumper-to-bumper with him as they approach the finish line. The Einsteins pat faster to help Rocket get closer. Rocket wins the race and becomes the new champion.

After the Einsteins exit Rocket, Big Jet warns that their battles are not over and will return for their next one that they'll regret. The Einsteins, Rocket, and all the other flying machines celebrate Rocket's victory by singing Rocket's race song while Leo declares the mission complete.

Trivia[]

  • This episode is Big Jet's first appearance.
  • When Annie gets hiccups, Leo likes to scare her to get them away.
  • This is the first episode to use art by Rousseau. In production order, however, it's the second and last episode to use it.
  • This is the first episode to use music by Brahms. Another variation of "Hungarian Dance No. 5" was used in "The Legend of the Golden Pyramid".
  • During the curtain call, the sheet music of Hungarian Dance No. 5 is played in its full orchestra rendition instead of a single instrument. It's the only episode to do this.
  • Quincy's dance is different in this episode, having his hands up than be on his back.

Errors[]

  • When the Einsteins are looking for the tiger, June is wearing her safari hat, but when Annie is worried about the tiger being big, she's not wearing it while she's thinking.
  • When Quincy is saying the episode's title, he has Annie's clothes. His normal clothes return when Annie announces the music.
