not to be confused with the outfit that has a similar name, Royal Etrean Guard.

Description[]

An Etrean Royal Guard is a type of enemy NPC that wields a Katana and can be found inside and outside the Palace at Etris. Attacking them or going near them without enough reputation brings you the same fate as attacking the Fort Merit guards. They'll appear when you grip two Etrean guards, even if you have positive reputation. They have a much higher required reputation level for peaceful interaction than normal Etrean Guards, requiring the player to be referred to by name for them not to attack on sight.

An Etrean Royal Guard wears a Blackleaf Helm and a Royal Etrean Guard outfit. They are all Etrean.

Moveset[]

An Etrean Royal Guard's arsenal only consists of a Katana:

Name Description Parryable? Blockable? Danger
Assault Firmly swings blade at opponent and finishing up the combo by kicking them. (★☆☆)
Critical Sheathes blade before dashing forward and unleashing a quick slash. (★★☆)
Flashdraw Swiftly unsheathes blade and delivers an upwards strike. (☆☆☆)
Gale Lunge Lunges forward with their weapon coated in wind. (★★☆)
Strong Left Performs a short wind-up before throwing a powerful, flinging punch that shatters the air. (★★★)

Boons:[]

  • Impervious - Immune to PvE scaling.

Finisher[]

An Etrean Royal Guard executes its opponent:

Name Description
Execute User pins down the opponent and slices their throat with their blade.

Tips[]

  • To avoid dealing with them, simply refrain from attacking anyone in Etris.
    • Alternatively, just don't go near Lord Regent's palace. However, if you must visit (to use the hive fountain teleporter) you can easily run past them anyways.
  • Their katanas are almost always enchanted.
  • Not much of a threat despite being town guard reinforcements.

Trivia[]

  • The description of the Royal Etrean Guard implies that the Royal Etrean Guard is the name of the group, and the Etrean Royal Guard is the name of the members of said group.
  • The Etrean Royal Guard near Kennith is a static NPC.
  • It is often theorized that their minds are somehow altered, similarly to the Mindless Servants in Duke’s Manor. This is Most likely done via a Mental Veil stronger than that placed by the Lord Regent on regular Etris Citizens. This is supported by the dialogue near Kennith’s body, in which the guard simply replies “You have an audience with the Lord Regent.” to anything the player says.
