Gene Colan (b. September 1, 1926 – d.June 23, 2011) was a writer.
Professional History
Gene Colan was a prominent artist in the comic industry during the Silver and Bronze Age. He is best known due to his unique visual style, a realistic, textural fluidity that emphasized a noirish look, which worked well for the characters he drew: Batman, Nathaniel Dusk, and his occult series Night Force.
He studied at the Art Students League of New York and received his first professional illustration job in the 1940s. During his lifetime, he illustrated hundreds of comics for Marvel and DC.
