The Smelter Sword is an ultra greatsword in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- An ultra greatsword forged from the soul of the Smelter Demon. Its blade bears the strength of terrible flames, a latent power unleashed by a strong attack.
- The earth spouted fire, and a beast arose from the flames. The short-sighted king was incinerated by the creature in one swing, and his castle devoured in a sea of flames.

Availability[]
Obtaining the Smelter Sword requires the player to trade 1,500 souls and the Smelter Demon Soul with Straid of Olaphis.
Characteristics[]
Whilst being one of the heaviest weapons in the game, as well as possessing a relatively slow moveset, the Smelter Sword is quite powerful in the right hands. It also features a unique moveset, where each strong attack is a combustion-inducing strike, creating a small, fiery explosion when the sword makes contact. Strong attacks consume 10 durability each; this can be partially mitigated with use of the Bracing Knuckle Ring variants.
Unlike most weapons, the Smelter Sword cannot be infused.
Despite appearances, the explosion on this weapon's strong attacks deals physical damage. This can be verified by using it on Flame Salamanders, which are immune to fire.

e Aged Smelter Sword allows for a large mixed red and blue fire explosion.
- Like the Aged Smelter Sword, the explosion of the special attack is only triggered if the player hits a solid object or enemy.
- The special attack can be cancelled by backstepping.
