Horace the Hushed is a character and enemy in Dark Souls III. He is one of only two children to escape Aldrich's clutches,^[1] the other being Anri of Astora.

Horace is voiced by Ryan Morris, who voiced Nico of Thorolund in Dark Souls, and Messengers and some mobs in Bloodborne.

Description[]

Horace is a companion of Anri of Astora and, along with them, one of the only two prisoners who managed to escape from Aldrich's captivity.^[1]

Anri considers Horace to be their loyal friend, a skillful warrior and someone that can be trusted upon. The Ashen One first meets both characters camping near a bonfire in the Road of Sacrifices. Unlike his polite and very talkative comrade, Horace limits himself to answer only with grunts and grumbles and never actually speaks. He gives the Blue Sentinels covenant token to the player upon 'talking' to him. At the end of Cathedral of the Deep, both Horace and Anri may be summoned to battle the Deacons of the Deep. Both characters can be found a second time after the battle (regardless of whether or not they were summoned), resting at Firelink Shrine.

As the Ashen One travels through the Catacombs of Carthus, however, Anri can be found separated from their friend. Visibly concerned for the sake of their friend, Anri asks the Ashen One to come back to them if they learn something about Horace's whereabouts.

Horace can be seen standing at the bottom of the large chasm below the hanging bridge that leads to High Lord Wolnir. The access to this location can be found via climbing down the bridge after destroying it to access Smouldering Lake, and then navigating a long tunnel on the right side upon entering the lake proper. Upon approach, however, Horace will attack the player (presumably due to hollowing), leaving no other option than to fight back. He wields a regular Halberd, and will use its Charge skill quite often to close the distance.
