Golden Crystal Golems are a non-respawning enemy in Dark Souls.
Description[]
Their appearance is very similar to that of Crystal Golems, except they have a gold hue and appear slightly larger.
Locations[]
Darkroot Basin[]
The Golden Crystal Golem appears at the lowest portion of Darkroot Basin, at the far end of the lake that the Hydra lives in. There is shallow water that can be safely traversed to the left side of the lake. A Rusted Iron Ring can make the trip faster and easier. It will not appear until the Hydra is defeated and the area is re-loaded. Killing it frees the Dusk of Oolacile.
The Duke's Archives[]
The Golden Crystal Golem appears in the center of the garden, out back of The Duke's Archives. It will not appear until Siegmeyer of Catarina has been given Purple Moss Clumps in The Great Swamp below Blighttown. It also will not appear if Siegmeyer of Catarina's story line has ended. Killing it frees Sieglinde of Catarina.
Crystal Cave[]
Two Golden Crystal Golems appear in the Crystal Cave. As they are on optional crystal bridges, they can be avoided. There is no requirement for them to appear. Killing them provides only souls. They do not respawn.
Lore[]
They seem to be serving Seath by imprisoning people within themselves. After defeating the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, a golem can be found at the back of the lake. Killing it will free Dusk of Oolacile.[1]
In the garden outside The Duke's Archives, a golem can be killed to free Sieglinde of Catarina.
Notes[]
The Golems located in Darkroot Basin and The Duke's Archives act as prisons for Dusk of Oolacile and Sieglinde of Catarina respectively. It is possible to see both women trapped within the large crystals on the golems' backs.
