“ DEFEAT ME, AND YOU SHALL BE ALLOWED TO PASS THROUGH THESE GATES. „
The Brown Sugar and White Sugar Guardian Golems serve as guards in Pilgrim's Path and Hero's Gate, keeping unwanted outsiders from the areas that they protect.
Summary[]
The Brown Sugar Guardian Golem first appears in Pilgrim's Path while guarding the entrance to the Hero's Gate. The golem awakes at the arrival of GingerBrave and friends, seeming disoriented at first and stating that "I HAVE SLUMBERED FOR TOO LONG" before giving the Cookies a riddle. The riddle tells them to seek a black, burning hot concoction of the 'venti size'. After the Cookies return with some coffee, the golem declares that they have passed their first trial before stating that the Cookies must defeat the golem before being allowed passage.
After being defeated, the golem praises the Cookies' efforts and refers to them as 'worthy adversaries'. The golem states that it has been quite some time since the Pilgrim Village was met with Cookie travelers and wishes the group luck.
The White Sugar Guardian Golem lies at the gates of the Vanilla Kingdom to ensure that only those who pass the trials of Hero's Gate are allowed entry. The Pilgrim Village Elder is also at the gates for the same reason, with both the elder and the golem chasing away Licorice Cookie, Bat-Cat, and Choco Werehound Brute after they attempt to gain free passage by only following the previous Cookies' success.
The Brown Sugar Guardian Golem reappears in The Lost Golden City after clearing Stage 17-11 but is not fought.

Notes[]
- The Sugar Guardian Golems appear to be based off of Sphinxes, who are mythological creatures that sport the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of a bird. Unlike Sphinxes, the Guardian Golems instead have a lion's head along with their body.
- More specifically, the golems may be a reference to the Riddle of the Sphinx. The myth tells of a winged sphinx who guards the entrance to Boeotian Thebes, an ancient Greek city, by asking a riddle (or two, in certain retellings) of travelers and passerbys in order to grant them passage.
- The Sugar Guardian Golems may be inspired by manticores, who have the body of a lion while also having the wings of a bat, a pair of horns and a scorpion tail.
- A golem is an anthropomorphic being appearing in Jewish folklore that is created from entirely inanimate matter, typically earth. However, the term 'golem' has since been utilized in many different places and pieces of media, and the Sugar Guardian Golems are not necessarily based off of the original folklore.
