Beast-Yeast
Lands populated by dreadful dessert monsters and dark shadows of the past.

Beast-Yeast (Korean: 비스트이스트 대륙, bisutu-isutu daelyug, "Beast-Yeast Continent") is an enigmatic continent in the east-northeast portion of Earthbread's Cookie Kingdom landmass. This treacherous land is home to the argent Faerie Kingdom alongside the banished Beast Cookies and their domains.

Beast-Yeast is the subject and stage of World Exploration: Beast-Yeast.

Summary[]

{{{alt 1}}}
Little is known about the mysterious continent of Beast-Yeast lying across the dark, viscous waters of the Licorice Sea. Few Cookies have set foot in these lands populated by dreadful dessert monsters and dark shadows of the past. None have seen it all.

The geography of Beast-Yeast remains a mystery as well. Its map, drawn based on the stories of those who went to Beast-Yeast and returned, still contains far too many blank spots.

Six major regions make up Beast-Yeast's landscape: the misty Faeriewood in the northwest, the white peaks of the Flour Mountains in the southwest, the barren Black Salt Flatland in the north, the diverse land of the Spice Ridge to the far east, the shimmering Sugar Paradise in the southeast, and the central region with its sky-piercing Blue Tower. Each and every one of them is teeming with danger, posing a considerable challenge even for a seasoned adventurer.

Flora & Fauna[]

There are a myriad of ancient dessert creatures within the thick of the Beast-Yeast forests. Many of these insects, fungi, and animals have already gone extinct in other continents but thrive in Beast-Yeast.

Creatures beyond your wildest imagination live and breathe in the vast forest of Beast-Yeast. From the smallest Yeast Spores and unidentified pollen particles, each and every thing is living and thriving on this mysterious continent. Some may look inviting, and yet... You mustn't let your guard down, as appearances can be deceiving, and behind a friendly smile could lie a ravenous predator eyeing Cookies' Life Powder...

Unlike plants outside of Beast-Yeast, these plants seem to possess... a consciousness. Some say the plants imitate Cookie faces in order to communicate.

Candyceps-infected Deer[]

Terra Incognita: Adventurer's Guide to Beast-Yeast, page 20

The Candyceps fungus appears to be based on the Ophiocordyceps genus of fungus. Often being colloquially conflated with the Cordyceps genus, fungi in the Ophiocordyceps genus are parasitic in nature and are infamous for being able to control their host's body—though, in real life, they generally only affect insects.

Jelly Tardigrade[]

These dessert creatures are made of sparkly gelatin and can be found across the entirety of Beast-Yeast, as they can survive even in the most extreme conditions. Despite their threatening size and high gelatin density, these creatures are painstakingly slow.
Terra Incognita: Adventurer's Guide to Beast-Yeast, page 21

The Jelly Tardigrade is inspired by the real-life tardigrade, a microscopic animal often referred to colloquially as the water bear. This nickname likely inspired the Jelly Tardigrade's bear ears, which also draws it back to Bear Jellies as a species. Its inclusion also continues the microscopic biology theming of Beast-Yeast most notably seen in the Yeast Spore.

The real tardigrade is just as resilient as the Jelly Tardigrade and can be equally as carnivorous as the Jelly Tardigrade concept art suggests it is.

Yeast Spores[]

The Yeast Spore in general, while obviously being based on the microscopic yeast, appears to serve as a stand-in for eucaryotic cells in the Cookie Run universe. Similar to the connection between humans/animals and their cells, the Yeast Spore is said to be the "smallest unit of Cookie life," normally being microscopic and only being visible at all in Beast-Yeast due to mutations allowed by the land's untamed environment.

Sugarcane Gnome[]

These Sugarcane Gnomes live in the wilderness of Beast-Yeast. Their physical appearance greatly resembles that of Sugar Gnomes residing in Crispia, but researcher have yet to find a link between the two species. Sugarcane Gnomes raise Turnip rabbits as their mounts and work sugarcane into weapons and musical instruments. Travelers be warned: their likeliness to Sugar Gnomes ends at their short stature and beards. Hostile to all strangers, Sugarcane Gnomes must be avoided unless approaching them is absolutely necessary.

The Five Beasts[]

Main article: The Five Beasts
The Ancient Cookies were not the first the Witches baked.

The Five First Cookies, imbued with the Virtues of Knowledge, Volition, Happiness, Change, and Solidarity, were sent to Earthbread to walk its tempestuous lands as envoys of the Godly Creators and sow the seeds of order and civilization. Yet, for reasons unknown, one by one, they turned to evil. No longer saviors of the world, the five took on the name 'Beasts.'
— Beast-Yeast Continent, Cookie Run: Kingdom 3rd Anniversary Site

The Five Beasts are five prehistoric, Soul Jam-holding Cookies baked by the Witches to spread order and create civilization throughout their newly-created lands. Each of these Cookies for their own reasons turned to lives of evil, and the sacred Virtue imbued in each was inverted and twisted into something grim. The five were sealed away in Beast-Yeast by the Witches to protect Earthbread.

Each Beast appears to represent a region of Beast-Yeast:
