Launch is an Ability that Jesse obtains by cleansing and binding the Floppy Disk, an Object of Power, during the main story mission Unknown Caller. It allows Jesse to telekineticlly pick almost any object (with upgrades) and throw them at anything, consuming energy in the process. Initially, only one medium-sized object can be picked. Upgrading the ability allows Jesse to pick up heavier and larger objects, eventually even up to three objects.

  • With upgrades, Jesse can Launch explosive projectiles thrown or fired by enemies back at them.
  • With upgrades, Jesse is able to Launch deceased enemies, as well as kill low-health enemies by picking them up with Launch.
  • Jesse can pick up and move around various items to manipulate the environment, such as blocking off or unblocking a path.
  • In dark areas, Jesse can pick up lights to illuminate your path.

Behind the scenes[]

An unused icon by the name ABILITY_UPGRADE_LAUNCH_ENEMIES_2.tex exists in the game files, visually identical to the one for the ability upgrade "Launch Enemies I," while the one for "Launch Enemies II" is using ABILITY_UPGRADE_LAUNCH_ENEMIES_LEVEL_3.tex. This indicates that an additional upgrade for "medium"-sized enemies was planned but not implemented in the final game.

Achievements and trophies[]

Several achievements and trophies are connected to Launch and its derivative Abilities, the two listed last being only available with the expansion AWE and in the game's Ultimate Edition.
