“ Bree: Why are you helping a madman?

Dr. Gao: (chuckles) Who's to say I'm not madder than he is?

„
~ Gao declaring himself to be worse than Krane.
“ Dr. Gao: Did you really think I would just let you run away and go home? I’m just getting started. Capturing your little space colony was just a small piece of our much greater plan: to begin… again.

Chase: What do you mean, "begin again"?
Dr. Gao: Wiping out all human existence on Earth.

„
~ Gao revealing his genocidal plan.

Dr. Gao is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Victor Krane) of the two-part episode, "Space Colony", in the Disney XD sitcom Lab Rats: Bionic Island.

He is a mad scientist who aligned himself with Victor Krane in order to wipe out humanity and repopulate the world with an army of bionic soldiers.

He was portrayed by Ping Wu.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Following Victor Krane's defeat in "Rise of the Bionic Soldiers", Dr. Gao was the one who saved his life, giving him a life support face plate to keep him alive. He only did this so that he could learn the secrets of Bionic Humans in return so he could learn how to make himself bionic, not out of care for Krane himself.
  • He teamed up with Krane to infiltrate the Davenport space colony. When the Davenport family arrives, he and Krane put a hole in the dome, putting the colonists in danger of suffocating to death.
  • While the Davenport family worked to contain the crisis, he and Krane kidnapped all of the colonists, including Tasha. They then brainwashed them all with the Triton App device.
  • He kidnaps Donald after Krane brainwashes him.
  • He reveals that he created liquid bionics with Krane's bionic knowledge, which he was going to inject into the colonists so that they could be turned into a new bionic army for them to command. He tries to inject Donald first at Krane's suggestion.
    • When Bree calls him out for helping a psychopath like Krane, he proudly declares that he's more insane than Krane is. This shows that he knows what he's doing is evil but doesn't care.
  • When Leo destroys his barrels of bionic liquid, he cowardly geo leaps away, abandoning Krane to fight their enemies himself.
  • Sneaking onto the Davenports ship, he brainwashes Leo with the Triton app and forces him to try to kill his own siblings.
  • Holding the heroes at gunpoint, he reveals that he and Krane's ultimate plan was to completely wipe out all human life on Earth and repopulate it with their bionic empire, having built a nuclear missile to start a nuclear winter that would end all life on the planet. He then presses the button to launch the missile, which comes dangerously close to reaching Earth and causing the extinction of humankind.
  • He's given very few comedic moments that doesn't detract from his heinous actions, which are taken completely seriously.
  • It's never made clear what Perry did to him after dragging him away, but he deserved it after everything he did, and he isn't given any sympathy despite his fearful pleas for help.
  • Despite Krane already being awful by the series standard, Dr. Gao is able to stand out by helping him brainwash and nearly implant bionics into the space colonists (bionics that he created) and launching a nuclear missile that almost destroys all life on Earth, making him an important participant in Krane's most heinous and destructive plot despite having lower resources and being less powerful than him.
