Summary

[edit]
Description

Street art at Chet Singh ghat. The ghats are embankments along the holy river Ganges. Trident, in Hindi/Sanskrit Trishula, is the weapon of god Shiva. The three points have various meanings and significance, they are commonly said to represent various trinities - creation, maintenance and destruction; past, present and future; the three gunas (qualities) - "sattva, rajas and tamas" (beingness, activity, darkness). All of these three gunas are always present in all beings and objects, in everyone and everything. In you, too. Flying together cobra and damaru drum (Shiva attributes) are depicted. Varanasi (Benares) is considered to be the city specially loved by Shiva.
