German is a ritual for asking for rain, which is performed during a prolonged drought or immediately after the other custom for asking for rain - Peperuda (Peperuda).

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A major part of the German ritual is the making of an anthropomorphic male figure from mud or clay, which is buried. This doll is called German. After the figure is made, it is placed in a coffin, covered with flowers, a lighted candle is placed on it, and the women mourn it as a dead person. Somewhere a priest was even called to sing it. After singing, the doll is taken with a solemn funeral procession to a water source, usually a river, where it is buried. It is believed that after the performance of this custom, it rains. However, if the rains are too heavy or torrential, the doll is removed from the grave.
