Summary
[edit]DescriptionRothe House, Kilkenny - geograph.org.uk - 206326.jpg |
English: Rothe House, Kilkenny. Rothe House was built by a rich merchant, John Rothe, between 1594 and 1610. It is actually three buildings linked by wings on each side of the narrow burgage plot and enclosing courtyards, one of which contains a well. The photo shows the view through the passage under the first building, across the first courtyard, through the second building and across the second courtyard, and also the restored oriel window on the wall facing the street. There is also a large garden at the rear which has become a wilderness, and it is hoped that this can be restored. |
