Summary
[edit]DescriptionRathaus-Hohenstein Kalktuff Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: Hohensteins new town hall is covered with plates of travertine, a karst product, sedimented in turbulent river sections and behind huge karst springs. When wet, travertine can easily be sawn. The dry material is extremely consolidated and weatherproof. The cavities and impurities - remnants of debris and biotic materials - make the plates very decorative and yet porous and thus lightweight. |
