| Description |
English: Oil-rig construction yard, Methil The huge grey shed and even taller lighting towers are part of a former oil-rig construction yard, latterly owned by Kvaerner, and built on the old Wellesley Colliery site. As well as by the Wemyss Private Railway, the colliery had been served by a North British Railway line that encircled the area, linking Methil station with Kirkland Yard, Leven, via Methil Docks. The line was still in situ when the oil-rig yard was constructed but little use seems to have been made of it. Today the track has been lifted except for a few lengths set in concrete, such as here at the former Methil No 1 level crossing. |
