Text Appearing Before Image:
Fig. 2. The Curve iisr Grenfell, Tickle1. Chidley Island; 2. Mt. Sir Donald; 3. Cairn. unable to say. On a second visit to this fiord we foundthree famihes of Eskimo camped on its shore; there areremains of ancient Eskimo encampments on the flats. This is an excellent ground on which to search for stonerelics. Threading the islands for a distance of ten miles from themouth of this fiord, another inlet opens. It is marked onthe Admiralty chart under the name ^^Ekortiarsuk.I have never entered it, nor have I record of its explorationby a single white man; the inlet is reported, however,to wind away among the mountains for thirty miles. Fifteen miles to the south-southwest is Mount Bache
Text Appearing After Image:
THE PHYSIOGRAPHY OF LABRADOR 59 and the northern end of the fiord-Hke EcHpse Channel, which hes between the mainland and the large island^ Aulatzevik. Halfway through, this channel is blocked byledges of rock, so that only small boats can pass. TheEskimo, in order to avoid the journey in the open oceanoutside Aulatzevik, regularly use the channel for theirskin boats. The mountains on each side of the channel
