English: Greenlandic–Danish polar explorer and anthropologist Knud Rasmussen (1879–1933) and German film maker Arnold Fanck (1889–1974) aboard Rasmussen's ship M/S Th. Stauning in 1932. Fanck's film S.O.S. Iceberg was filmed in Greenland under the protectorate of Rasmussen. The picture shows the crews of Rasmussen and Fanck celebrating with a drink on the occasion of the start of Rasmussen's seventh Thule expedition.
Français : L'explorateur polaire groenlandais-danois et anthropologue Knud Rasmussen (1879–1933) et le cinéaste allemand Arnold Fanck (1889–1974) à bord du navire Th. Stauning de Rasmussen en 1932. Le film S.O.S. Eisberg de Fanck a été filmé au Groenland sous le protectorat de Rasmussen. | Author | unknown, maybe Studio Vogel-Sandau; backside shows the date 1932 and the name Stefanek which was the later name of Fanck's girl-friend Elisabeth „Lisa“ Kind (1908–1995). Fanck married her in 1934. The couple got divorced in 1957. Elisabeth „Lisa“ Fanck later married Mr. Stefanek. |
