English: The Regimental Combat Team 6 Sailor of the day is Petty Officer 3rd Class Chad McClinton, 23, corpsman, Regimental Combat Team 6, from Guys, Tenn.
McClinton joined the Navy in November 2008. He enlisted because he wanted to travel the world, get money for school and help people out. “I haven’t so much traveled the world as circled it,” McClinton laughed. I wanted to see other countries and have fun… and here I am in Afghanistan. But I like it here, helping out the Marines. Besides, my career is still young, so I’m sure it’ll happen.” McClinton likes to set goals for his career in the Navy. First, he wants to earn his Fleet Marine Force pin. Second, he wants to take college courses and earn his bachelor degree. “It’s kind of a prestige thing to earn the FMF pin, it shows you know all about the Marines your serving with,” McClinton said. “I want to be a cardiologist, or do something in the medical field as a profession, so that’s why I need to earn my degree. From there I’ll see what happens and decide if I want to stay in or not, I may be a lifer.” In his free time, McClinton likes to go to the gym, play sports, and listen to music. He loves Frisbee, surfing, basketball and baseball and his favorite types of music are country and rap. “I love country, but when you work out you need something that gets you going,” McClinton said. He also likes to travel to different places and explore new things. “I love to go to the beach with my fiancé. Once we went to Key Largo, and we got to go swim with dolphins. It was really cool; my favorite area is Florida. I’ve been all over the place, and there’s all kinds of fun things to do there,” McClinton said. “Obviously I don’t get to explore out here, but in my free time I just chill or talk to my family and friends.” “I want to tell my family that I love and miss them, also to my fiancé Vicki, I love you pumpkin,” McClinton said. |
