It was established in 1356 by the then queen Joanna I of Naples to award the bravery of the people of Senarica in their figth against the Visconti that menaced the Kingdom of Sicily. With the establishment as Republic Senarica was freed from every vassalage and subjected only to the Crown. The Republic of Senarica was abolished in 1797 by the Bonaparte-ruled Kingdom of Naples | |||
