Nederlands: Deze kaart is onderdeel van het album dat geschonken is door de Gouverneur van Curaçao, als vertegenwoordiger van de ingezetenen van de eilanden Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Het vinden van fotografen was een uitdaging. Op Curaçao en Bonaire waren diverse professionele fotografen gevestigd, op de andere eilanden ontbraken deze. De gouverneur gaf aan de bekende fotostudio Soublette & Fils op Curaçao opdracht voor het maken van een aantal foto’s. Opvallend is dat deze studionaam ontbreekt op de lijst met fotografen in het album. In 1903 werden de foto's op Curaçao geëxposeerd, waarna ze naar Amsterdam werden gestuurd om te worden ingebonden. De gouverneur bood het geschenk op 29 augustus 1904 aan koningin Wilhelmina aan. Ze vroeg hem alle betrokkenen mee te delen dat ze deze hulde ten zeerste waardeerde. |
