| Description |
English: Deganwy Marina The new marina at Deganwy was constructed in the site of the old dock, built by the LNWR to break the monopoly of the GWR in the Ffestiniog slate trade. It was not a huge success and the principal traffic became coal heading in the opposite direction. After a long period of dereliction, attempts to redevelop the quay and dock were thwarted by the difficulty of access across the railway. The present scheme was successful, but involved filling-in a quarter of the water space for more housing and constructing a tide-gate to maintain the water level. The contrast between the old stone and modern concrete construction is evident here. |
