Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde 1953 niedersächsischen Innenminister in Anlehnung an das Amtssiegel aus dem 18. Jahrhunder genehmigt. Der Löwe ist der welfische und symbolisiert die seit 1157 bestehende frühere Zugehörigkeit. Der Hirsch ist dem Wappen des früheren Amtes Herzberg entnommen worden; ferner erinnert er an den früheren Namen "Hirschberg". Rot und Gold dieser Schildhälfte, waren die Farben der Grafen von Lutterberg, die um 1029 einen Sitz in der Gemeinde errichteten.
