English: Cromford: Up freight near High Peak Junction, 1961. View northward from the A6 in the Derwent Valley. Before the ex-Midland Railway main line through the Peak District between Derby and Manchester was closed north of Matlock in March 1967, it was important freight route. Here a typical Up freight is near High Peak Junction, Cromford, headed by Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48356 (built 1944 and survived to the very end of steam on BR, 7/68. |
