Beal Point

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Beal Point Beal point on the mainland, looking out to Goswick Sands, a large expanse of sand and mudflats exposed at low tides. The area was used by the military as a target practice area and there are warning signs suggesting that you do not pick up strange metal objects. Early in 2005 a strong storm uncovered two 500 lb bombs, and the resulting controlled detonations could be heard in Berwick upon Tweed, about 10 miles away. There are also said to be local areas of quicksand. The village on Holy Island and the motorist's refuge, on the causeway can be seen in the background.
