Summary
[edit]DescriptionAdenoid cystic carcinoma - intermed mag.jpg |
English: Intermediate magnification micrograph of adenoid cystic carcinoma, abbreviated AdCC. H&E stain.
AdCC consists of a mix of ductal cells and myoepithelial cells. The myoepithelial cells are predominant and have scant cytoplasm. The cribriform / tubular / cystic architecture is classic and a distinctive feature. Other features include (pink & paucicellular) hyaline stroma, and whispy & dirty material within the cystic spaces, which is PAS positive. Normal serous glands, characteristic of the parotid salivary gland, are seen in some images. Related images
