| Description | A U.S. Navy LTV A-7E Corsair II from Attack Squadron VA-147 Argonauts refuels a Grumman F-14A Tomcat from Fighter Squadron VF-211 Checkmates in May 1987. Two French Vought F-8E(FN) Crusader fighters are visible in the lower part of the photo. VA-147 and VF-211 were assigned to Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). Kitty Hawk made a world cruise from 3 January to 29 June 1987 before entering Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for the Service Life Extension Program. |
