Summary
[edit]Description"Gina" in Fursty.jpg |
English: A Fiat G.91 R/3 (LW nickname "Gina") near the GCA maintenance barracks at Fürstenfeldbruck airfield ("Fursty") - a G.91 R/3 (DH + 120) of JaboG 42 (Jagdbombergeschwader 42) Pferdsfeld, Rhineland-Palatinate. The Fiat G.91 R/3 joined the unit in April 1966, having previously flown the Canadair CL-13B Sabre 6. In May 1967, it was reorganised into the fighter-bomber role and renamed Leichtes Kampfgeschwader 42 (LeKG 42), the registration number of the G.91 changed to MB + 120. 8 years later, in April 1975, LeKG 42 was absorbed into JaboG 35 (Jagdbombergeschwader 35), with the McDonnell F-4F Phantom II being flown. In the "V-Fall" (defence case), the air force unit would have been relocated to the forward airfields of Kitzingen and Giebelstadt to the south-east and south of Würzburg in northern Bavaria. Training and orientation flights with Fiat G.91s during the 1960s and early 1970s were reported for Giebelstadt by eyewitnesses, while the user W-R-H's own observations date back to 1965. |
