English: OriginalProclamation of the Republic, 1893, oil on canvas by Benedito Calixto (1853-1927). The proclamation of the Republic took place in Rio de Janeiro, then capital of the Empire of Brazil, when a group of military officers of the Brazilian Army, led by Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca, staged a coup d'état without the use of violence, deposing the Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II, and the President of the Council of Ministers of the Empire, the Viscount of Ouro Preto.
Español: Original - Proclamación de la República, 1893, óleo sobre lienzo por Benedito Calixto (1853-1927). La proclamación de la República llevó a cabo en Río de Janeiro, entonces capital del Imperio del Brasil, cuando un grupo de militares del Ejército de Brasil, dirigido por el mariscal Deodoro da Fonseca, organizó un golpe de Estado sin el uso de la violencia, para deponer al emperador de Brasil, Don Pedro II, y el Presidente del Consejo de Ministros del Imperio, el vizconde de Ouro Preto.
