:ich habe die Bildbeschreibung um Sprachversionen erweitert und Redundanz entfernt und dabei einfach das Standard-Template verwendet. Das du dieses spezielle Template nicht magst, kann ich gut nachvollziehen. Deswegen hättest du aber nicht meine gesamten inhaltlichen Verbesserungen revertieren brauchen. Wie soll ich sagen - die Texte und das Layout unterliegen der GNU-FDL, es hat nichts mit "Zwang" zu tun, wenn man in einem Wiki die Texte des ursprünglichen Autors ändert. Wie sollte das denn sonst funktionieren? Man kann ja nicht jedes Mal den Urheber fragen, ob ihm die Farben passen. Das ist ja gerade der Witz an der GNU-FDL, dass die Urheber keine weiteren Ansprüche mehr stellen können. Ursprünglich gab es gar keine Commons und alle Beschreibungsseiten waren wie die Bilder lokal. Danach gab es die Commons, aber es musste eine deutsche Bildbeschreibungsseite geben. Kurz danach wurde, falls es keine lokale Seite gab, die Commons-Seite automatisch eingeblendet. Danach wurde die Commons-Seite zusätzlich ''über'' der lokalen Seite eingeblendet und aktuell wird sie darunter angeordnet. Du siehst, die Sache mit den Bildbeschreibungsseiten hat eine durchaus bewegte Geschichte. Ich möchte nicht nach jeder Softwareänderung mittlerweile über 600 Bilder anpassen und bin deshalb etwas vorsichtig, auch weil ich eine gewisse Einheitlichkeit meiner Bildbeschreibungsseiten mag. Ich verstehe aber dein Anliegen, klar. * Hi there - I am the reviewer who uploaded them.  Since I am just a reviewer I am not going to be hugely bothered if they are removed - but as far as I was aware publicly displayed statues (which are statues, not artwork installations) are not held under any special protection and so can be licensed under CC.  Obviously plenty of pictures are uploaded to flickr without their authors knowing that they can't be uploaded under CC (a closeup of a cola label for example), but in this case I was fairly certain that the images were fine (and precedents such as most of the pics in [[:Category:New York City statues and sculptures|this]] category, for example, would tend to suggest they were fine). The uploader has clearly indicated that it was taken in the [[:en:Hong Kong Museum of History|Hong Kong Museum of History]] exhibition, and as the author of the photograph he has released it into the public domain. Considering the sculpture is placed in an open exhibition, I don't understand why the "license of the scupltor" is necessary. (This information is likely to be difficult to obtain anyway, considering this is placed in a government-operated museum.) :As with any copyrighted work, you need a licence of the copyright holder to publish or otherwise use photos of sculptures, see [[Commons:Derivative works]]. There are only very few exceptions, namely in Germany, where you don't need a licence for stuff photographed outdoors from public space. In either case, the images are PD. Hello, I see you've spammed my talk page with the copyright warnings (why not a simple short notice?), can't see anyhing for all the red boxes ;) As I stated on [[User:Scoo/GreatWorldWar|the gallery sub-page]], the book unfortunately do not provide any image source. As such I've presumed public domain due to copyright expiration (as old age). The one author I know of, the main editor/author of the book, Major General Carl Otto Nordensvan, died in 1924.

How to proceed? Well, I assume that my assumption in good faith of public domain can be contested (though I'm fairly certain that in that case all WWI-era images should be deleted, most often websites hosting them etc. '''do not''' provide info on the photographer). See also [[Template:PD-Ugglan]], for images that are from a contemporary Swedish encyclopedia (which at the most would provide the name of the editor responsible for images..). :I know, It's a problem with these old images. In the German Wikipedia, there's a (contestable) convention to accept images that are older than 100 years as PD. On the Commons, there is no such thing. These images are even newer – they should be removed to be on the save side. No problem, one simple way to list several images is to add a ":" before the image syntax (<nowiki>[[:Image:123.jpg]]</nowiki>, that way only a link will be produced. I condensed your entry on my [[User talk:Scoo|talk page]]. As for the images, 
#(being safe in the extreme) I think those of Admiral Beatty, the horse simulator and SMS Mainz sinking would fall under British PD due to old age ([[Template:PD-UK-photo-pre-1945]] or [[Template:PD-BritishGov]]).
#As for the German photographs (I unfortunately do not understand enough to browse the links given at [[Template:PD-Germany]]) I'd hope they could be kept to illustrate WWI from the German side too. In that respect, I (as a layman) would say that such a policy is too restrictive or too considerate on the author's part; only adds to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Countering_systemic_bias inherent bias] image-vise if we can only have images of say German cruisers sinking (probably photographed by the Royal Navy) or POWs... Interesting thought... But when I think of it, actually the tag [[Template:PD-UK-photo-pre-1945]] seems pretty dodgy itself. The EU [[:en:Directive on harmonising the term of copyright protection|Directive on harmonising the term of copyright protection]], to which the tag relates and links, ''retroactively'' put works that were no longer protected by copyright in 1995 under copyright again if they were still copyrighted in another EU country, Spain's effectively, because Spain has had 70 years p.m.a. (or even 80) since 1879. (see e. g. [[Commons:Löschanträge#Copyright_status_in_the_U.S.]]). Actually, I can't see which works, of which the author has not been dead for more than 70 years in 1995, could not be covered by the author's copyright in the EC (except from Crown copyright and the like). I'll raise the issue at the village pump.

:Stimmt, es müssen eine Menge Bilder gelöscht werden. Beim Hbf in Berlin gab's auch schon Ärger, wie ich mich erinnere. Das ist immer eine ziemliche Gratwanderung: Wenn die Architektur bzw. Inneneinrichtung nur "Beiwerk" ist, geht es noch in Ordnung, wenn das Foto aber die Architektur/Inneneinrichtung selbst darstellt, nicht mehr. Die Situation ist allerdings weitgehend klar: Fotos von Bauwerken, die noch urheberrechtich geschützt sind, können frei verwendet werden, solange ''Panoramafreiheit'' gilt. Innenaufnahmen sind davon grundsätzlich nicht gedeckt. Es gelten noch einige andere Bedingungen ([[:de:Panoramafreiheit#Hinweis_zu_Innenaufnahmen|siehe hier]]), aber was Innenaufnahmen von Architektonischem angeht, können sie nur dann ohne Zustimmung des Urhebers verwertet werden, wenn das (Innen-)Architektonische nur für das Bild unwesentliches [[:de:Beiwerk (Recht)|Beiwerk]] ist.
:::Was nun Beiwerk ist, lässt sich leider nicht eindeutig festlegen. Auf einem Foto jubelnder Fans ist das Sonnensegel klar Beiwerk – es geht um die Fans. Ist das Sonnensegel reichlich groß im Bild, stehen nur ein paar Fans als Alibi noch davor herum und das Bild ist mit "Sonnensegel in der Allianz-Arena" unterschrieben, wird's schon heikel, aber noch nicht unbedingt eindeutig. Die meisten der Hbf-Bilder sind so. Auf einem Bild, das aber nur die Sonnensegel als Detail der Architektur zeigt, sind sie eindeutig kein Beiwerk mehr.
:::Ich habe gerade die letzten 500 von dir hochgeladenen Bilder überflogen, da war sonst nichts dazwischen, war mir aufgefallen wäre. Ich glaube nicht, dass man z. Considering the multiple places you will find this statement made (including by the way the it:WP), you will find your evidence that I am not alone in thinking that Italian government works fall into the public domain after 20 years.  However, I do not advocate that you convince yourselves indirectly through such circumstantial evidence no matter how voluminous you find it to be.  I recommend you convince yourselves by considering the law.

Additionally, judging from [[Commons:Village pump#Images_from_Livius.Org|this email from one of the authors]], the authors do d) not even know what the GFDL and Creative Commons licences are and seem to be under the impression to licence to e) Wikipedia exclusively and f) only for the time being, which is incompatible with policy, too. das Foto Stirnlappenbasilisk für das aus Copyrightgründen LA gestellt wurde, wurde vom Bildautor eingestellt dem auch die Seite gehört auf der Du den Copyrightvermerk gefunden hast. Er erwähnt auf der Seite auch die Wikipedia Awards die das Bild schon erhalten hat. Ich hab ihn per Mailinterface informiert und um Stellungnahme gebeten. When this happen I create a new page for those argouments with ALL the images. Then I link this new page to the more general own ( let's say to Bologna page),usually in the section title. At this point, in my opinion of course, it's more convinient to reduce photos of those argument in the main page and always imho 4 photos is the right number. What do you think about that? The only thing I can say is that is was published for over 70 years ago, and it is a compilation work. I can't find any real reason in the Swedish copyright law that confirms that it is public domain.  We have just relied on [[:de:Projekt Runeberg]], who scanned in the complete encyclopedia, and its founder Lars Aronson [[user:LA2]]. Maybe it is better if you ask him directly.

Ah, that's the problem with slapping tags on things instead of talking to people: I didn't understand what problem you had with the picture, since I was just seeing it as a picture of a car I took - it was not being used to illustrate the Roadrunner article (as far as I know).

All Plymouth Roadrunners and Superbirds had Warner Bros. licensed Roadrunner graphics on them from the factory.  I don't think you can argue that therefore any photo of the car can't be free licensed (or are you?) - thus the problem here is that the photo is sufficiently of the graphic zoomed in enough to be usable as an image of the Warner Bros. Roadrunner.

:Yes, that is exactly the problem: They are considered PD in the projects, because we at the Commons are being trusted. With this half a dozen of images I recently tagged, we have no proof whatsoever that this trust is justified. I'm observing an ill tendency over the last months to switch from ''if in doubt, reject'' to ''if in doubt, accept'' when it comes to judging PD status. This is very dangerous to our users and the projects' credibility.

:As for US copyright status, I would like to point out that these WWI images are not at all clearly PD in the United States. They would need to have been published before 1909 for that or we'd need proof they were published ''in compliance with U. S. formalities (registration, © notice) before 1923'' (see [[:en:Wikipedia:Public_Domain#_note-US1909]]). 

:In any case, these images are not tagged as {{tl|PD-US}} but claim to be PD in the EU because their authors had been dead for over 70 years, of which we do not have the slightest indication, let alone proof. :Hello Civvi, I'm afraid I'll have to reconstruct this from memory, since the images and their description have been deleted already: As far as I remember, I did not tag them for deletion ({{tl|delete}}) but for completion of data, {{tl|nsd}}. The description did not give the name and date of death of the images' author. The images obviously were not anonymous since they were portrays by a crew member, not candid shots, and the author has most likely been Frank Hurley, the official photographer of the Nimrod.
:The images were published in London in 1909. That means that in a lot of countries (e. g. all EU countries, Japan, Taiwan ...) these images will enter the public domain only 70 years after the author's death. We did not have any proof or even hint that the author has died before 1937, which we would need. Hurley, the obvious candidate, only died in 1962, so the images would enter the PD in 2033.
:The situation in the US is different and somewhat exotic with the [[:en:WP:PD#Rule_of_the_shorter_term|US not recognising the copyright of the originating country]], so I suspect the NOAA was referring to the special case of the US and not to the images' status internationally. --[[User:Wikipeder|Wikipeder]] 11:28, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Most countries relate the period of copyright to the period the country grants where the images originated (the US is an exception). Hurley's images are not made in Australia, but mostly on territory or in functions where British law applied. Hallo Wikipeder, seit einigen Monaten beobachte ich einen jungen Mann, der anscheinend jedes Auto fotografiert, das ihm vor die Linse kommt, und zunächst als [[User:Matthias93|Matthias93]], jetzt als [[User:Luftfahrrad|Luftfahrrad]] die Commons mit den mehr oder minder gelungenen Ergebnissen zuzumüllen droht. Seine beste Tagesleistung als Matthias93 lag seinerzeit bei 46, gestern als Luftfahrrad bei 33 Uploads. Darunter sind viele Bilder wie [http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Saab_9-5_SportCombi_2002-2005_rear.JPG dieses] von einem Saab. Verschiedene Benutzer haben in den letzten Wochen versucht, ihm Anleitungen zu geben, wie man besser fotografiert, und mit ihm darüber diskutiert, dass es eine Unart ist, gute Fotos in den Wikipedia-Artikeln gegen schlechte auszutauschen. – Kannst Du Dir die Sache einmal anschauen und auf den Jungen einwirken, damit er sich künftig ein wenig zurückhält und die Bilder kritisch prüft, bevor er sie unter die Leute wirft. :This won't help: The trouble is that we don't know of what it is a reproduction and if there aren't any copyright holders to the derivative. If you want to upload something, you are on the safe side with the actual original photo. Das war bei [[:Image:Hugo Ball Cabaret Voltaire 1916.jpg]] eben nicht klar: ist das eine nachkolorierte Bearbeitung ohne Schöpfungshöhe des in den USA gemeinfreien Fotos? Oder ist es z. B. ein Foto von einem Spray-Paint-Werk, das dem Originalfoto nachempfunden ist, aber doch soweit eigenständig ist, dass es Schöpfungshöhe hat? Mit einem einfach nur entkratzten, aufgehellten oder ähnlich bearbeiteten Scan des Originals vermeidet man diesen Graubereich. :::Das ist wohl ein Missverständnis: Der Grund für die Dateiüberprüfung ist, dass eben keine [[:de:Panoramafreiheit|Panoramafreiheit]] gilt und wir wie für jedes normale Foto eines geschützten Werks eine Freigabe des Urhebers des Originals bräuchten, sonst wäre es eine URV. :Was ist denn mit dir los? Der nld-Tag ist einfach dazu da, Bilder zu markieren, bei denen offenbar ein Problem vorliegt, in der Absicht, dass das Problem behoben wird und das Bild bleiben kann. Ein Löschantrag, wie du ihn vorschlägst, ist doch völlig überzogen, bevor man die Fakten überprüft hat.
:Inzwischen hat der Uploader ja klargestellt, dass das Archiv (wie so verdammt oft) zwar munter irgendwelche "Freigaben" verteilt, aber nicht im geringsten weiß, ob es überhaupt die nötigen Rechte dazu besitzt. Das Theater mit ahnungslosen Archiven haben wir hier andauernd. Nochmal: Der ''Besitz'' eines Bildes — auch wenn vom Urheber/Erben des Urhebers erhalten — beinhaltet nie und niemals irgendwelche Rechte am Bild, geschweige denn die ausschließlichen, exklusiven Bildrechte, die das Archiv vom Urheber (!), nicht von Bircher-Benner, übertragen bekommen haben müsste, um die Bilder zu lizenzieren.
:Mal am Rande: Eine "OTRS-Freigabe" heißt einfach bloß, dass ein Schrieb in diese Richtung per OTRS dokumentiert ist. Sie heißt nicht, dass die Freigabe gültig ist. Die OTRSler sind doch nicht automatisch Bildrechtsexperten! Ich muss schon dutzende völlig unhaltbare "OTRS-Freigaben" gesehen haben, in denen einer formal völlig korrekt über OTRS Bilder "lizenziert" hat, die er gar nicht lizenzieren konnte. Anders als der nld-Tag sieht ja ein Löschantrag keine weitere Recherche vor und führt deshalb mit guter Wahrscheinlichkeit zu einer wenig kompetenten Bauchentscheidung. Löschanträge zur Lizenzrecherche zu zweckentfremden ist nicht sinnvoll. Ich kann auch nicht erkennen, dass ein Löschantrag in seiner Radikalität irgendwie nutzerfreundlicher wäre als die nld-Markierung, die Lizenzierung zu überprüfen.
