:The drawing of the famous pose is not a derivative work of the AP photo since there is a PD film of the exact [[:File:Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima.ogg|same pose]] to serve as an inspiration for the drawing. By coincidence the movie is featured as media of the day on commons for today. The relevant frame is about 1 second in. The drawing merely identifies the men in a pose which was captured by a marine cameraman and also happened to be captured by an AP photographer. ::{{Comment}}  If the drawing is in any way (software, tracing etc.) taken from the photo the it's a copyvio:  it doesn't matter if there's another PD image to ''serve'' as source.  The movements of the the servicemen are PD-US-GOV if they could possibly be copyright, '''but''' the creativity of the photographer ''might'' be held to be the selection of this precise instant as poignant and artistically significant: it is what photographers do. If this fails to stop the deletion request perhaps you would consider recreating it from an image of the Marine memorial or from the PD photo sao thyat it would remain free. As said, the original picture is in the article anyway. This looks drawn, as stated and not derivative in my professional opinion.
