An eyecatch, in a Code Lyoko context, is a short animated clip which generally plays before or after a commercial break. They are also included in the video games Get Ready to Virtualize, Fall of X.A.N.A., and Quest for Infinity.
Each eyecatch has one of the main characters' faces in a small Eye of XANA which rotates around quickly for a second or so, and their virtual avatar in the corner, while playing the first bars of "A World WIthout Danger"; the Eye will then fly up to the camera to end the eyecatch and start the following scene. Jeremie and Aelita (prior to The Trap) are the exceptions to this rule in general, since Jeremie's avatar is never shown, and Aelita's real-world form is not seen until Code: Earth. Since Season 2, most characters also received an alternate eyecatch that shows them on their vehicle. In Season 4, they were all updated for the new costumes.
No official eyecatch was made for William. Code Lyoko Evolution features transitions displaying the Eye of X.A.N.A. instead.
General description[]
For the first episodes of the first series, the eyecatches are of Odd, Ulrich and Yumi's avatars against a purple-pink background, brandishing their weapons. Eventually, they attack the camera to end the eyecatch. Each ending uses that character's specific weapon: Ulrich launches a wave from his Katana, Yumi throws her Tessen Fan, and Odd fires one of his Laser Arrows.
