Reindeer in Here is a CGI-animated special based on the 2017 book-and-plush set by Adam Reed. Five years later, it was produced by the CBS network's Eye Animation and premiered on November 29, 2022.
Synopsis[]
This special begins in a small town where we find a young boy named Theo, who's just moved into town with his family and has been having the worst luck finding friends. In fact, the only friend he ever has is his puppet named Frankie. He taught himself ventriloquism at a young age. It is explained later that his family moves a lot. His mom's job is the culprit behind the constant moving. One night, he sees what he thinks is a shooting star; so he wishes on it; but in reality, it's a young reindeer named Blizzard or Blizz for short, a reindeer with asymmetrical antlers due to a syndrome he was born with, causing him to crash very often.
The scene then goes back to his hometown, the North Pole. Here, Blizz and his snowgirl friend Candy races to get to his appointment with Santa Claus. It is to show off his new invention, the portable Christmas Tree; as his dream is to get respect and credit and to make Christmas even better than before. At first Blizz is denied an appointment, until he meets head elf and H.O.H.O. (Head of Holiday Operations) and former inventor, Smiley Gumdrops. Smiley gratefully fills in for Santa, who's on guard duty at the Snowglobe Tower, that night. This is where a super special snowglobe is located. The snowglobe is a very powerful invention that listens to kids' wishes. Smiley tells the pair about the old days where he would give Santa ideas for making Christmas better. But Santa is not too keen with change. Blizz then reveals his tree invention, but it grows too big and Smiley rejects it. After the rejection, Blizz and Candy are forced to work double shifts until Valentine's Day, as they had to miss work for the appointment. Their jobs are the jobs of Santa-Tation Workers (sanitation workers). His worried friends suggests that Blizz should stop and take a break. But Blizz is still determined to make a difference.
Later that night, Blizzard has this idea to add his own wish to the snowglobe, courtesy of Candy. So they sneak in to the tower disguised as Santa and Smiley. Blizz is about to make his wish when a mysterious figure steals the snowglobe and exits the North Pole. Blizz and Candy attempt to get it back but to no avail as they end up dropping in the small town shown earlier in the special. This brings us to where we were before, when Blizzard and Theo meet for the first time. Blizz explains to Theo about the attempted snowglobe theft and needing it to get it back before everybody at the North Pole finds out. But it would be already too late. The North Pole becomes aware of the fact that the snowglobe is missing and quickly declares Blizzard as the prime suspect. Theo initially is reluctant to help, but he eventually decides to help out.
The gang in Theo's town spends the next few days searching of the missing snowglobe. Along the way, Theo gets bullied by two neighborhood kids with snowballs, explains what's been going on with him to Blizzard and vice versa and getting to know each other in the process. Also, Theo accidentally runs into his classmate, a girl named Isla Williamson, whom he has a crush on; Theo wouldn't admit it, but Blizz can tell. Blizz and Candy eventually realizes that it's the same Isla Williamson who asked for meal worms the previous Christmas.
Eventually on the night of Christmas Eve, they find the snowglobe using Blizz's latest invention, only to be stolen by that same mysterious figure again. They chase him down to forest area where they come across a force field/cloaking device. It conceals an abandoned toy factory which was closed down years ago. Enlisting the aid of Isla, she shows the group a way to get past the force field by using the sewer system.
Meanwhile back at the North Pole, Blizz's friends, led by Blizz's reindeer friend Pinky are conducting an investigation to help clear Blizz's name. With the help of a reindeer web video star, their search leads them to Smiley's office, where they find out that Smiley is behind the snowglobe theft and ties them up.
And at the old toy factory, the gang discover that the mysterious figure, is really three stacked elves driving a droid, in disguise; ordered by Smiley to steal the snowglobe. This is all part of Smiley's plan to change Christmas for the better and proving to Santa that change is good, mostly due to rising population and Santa's disregard for change; which is why he's been doing this behind Santa's back and using the old toy factory to manufacturer more toys which all look bad and with ornament-typed robots. Smiley also fears that Santa isn't up to doing this the old way anymore, the snowglobe won't have anymore room for wishes and the elves haven't been making enough toys. Blizz and his friends aren't very happy with what Smiley's been up to and that he should have told Santa about this right away.
Blizz and the others race to fight the robots, reason with Smiley, recover the snowglobe and bring it back to the North Pole. When returning the snowglobe, Theo and Blizz explained everything to Santa. Shortly after, Christmas Eve goes on as scheduled, with Blizz and Theo riding with Santa.
The following year, Smiley's inventions are finally put to good use. Blizz even comes up with his best idea yet: to have a reindeer in every home, to get a better understanding of every kids' wish. At about the same time, Theo finally makes human friends and his family decided to stay.
