Buzz Lightyear is a character originally created for the 1995 Pixar animated film Toy Story. In the Toy Story films, the featured Buzz character is a toy — an electronic spaceman action figure with pop-up wings, laser light flash, multi-sound voice simulator, karate chop action, wrist communicator and openable space helmet — whereas the spin-off television series, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, followed the adventures of the fictional space ranger on whom the toy is modeled.
