Some of the lows are pretty low here at the moment.............

I was on baby watch for our second jersey heifer.............

No Love had her calf last week.......she was up all was ok........calf was up so we left her as we would any other heifer...........but something was wrong a few days later........as soon as i saw her I knew something was wrong.......she wasn't well..........Mr Chooky was not here so I told him we would need to get her in the next day and give her some medication...............but it was too late........we found her dead.......I think she must have still had some placenta etc that she didn't deliver properly.........

The poddies all followed us over to where she was and Big Love walked up to her...........she mooed but it was a terrible sound.........I think she knew her friend was gone.........broke my heart............

the good news is though that Big Love is sharing some of her love and No Love's calf had been getting a drink off her.............

being so dry and on her first calf we have brought Big Love to the house yard into special care so we can feed her extra so she can raise both the calves.............

The girl on the left is Big Love's calf and the little boy on the right is her adopted baby.............nature is amazing....and devestating........

More sorting to sell some cattle....... Trying to reduce numbers more..........

The dust was terrible ......... 

So put the family on notice you are out of action..........make sure you have some quick grab easy food............the essential bottle of champagne and a nice cheese and lets get the party started...........couple of the girls will be here Thursday so the party will start early......i'll probably only get to the cleaning then...........LOL........more cattle work this weekend i'll see if I get back with some more stuff to share before the party starts..............

Been checking often.......BUT.............

We had the chain saw and no wood at home so cut up some firewood..............the cows thought they might get some more  food but not this time.............

these are the young mummas..........they look much better then some of the old girls who had calves on them..............

we were preg testing to see if they are going to be Mummas ...........quite appropriate don't you think on Mothers Day........culling what we don't want........its when looks do matter........and if your not pregnant your gone.......

as we have to lower numbers to continue to feed in this drought (that doesn't exist according to the government) we have to get rid of lots just because they are the oldest..........

the day improved.............I took my jumper off once but it didn't stay off for long.........the wind kept up all day...........but it was a big clear sky day.............

Now that post title got your attention didn't it........lol

Cheeky lamb sneaks thru the gate again now she is skinny again....... She's looking a bit 'naked' since she was shorn a few weeks ago........ 

Here she is getting her extra feed from the oats hopper...... She is the fattest sheep on the property....... 

Sunrise this morning was pretty...... The light was very good....... 

And we are on 'baby watch' Big Love is starting to get some milk..... Remember all the poddies........

She's nearly a mummy........

Had to feed at the other property after town work...... With the shorter days it was so close to dark when we finish ..... We struggled to find the last mob but they heard us and were coming in to the feed truck........my truck driving skills are pretty limited...... I haven't progressed out of first gear but I don't need to to feed the cows......just creep along in first gear while Mr Chooky pushes biscuits of hay off....... ok best go dinner is just about cooked....
