Fenric the Vile

Fenric the Vile is an upper-level demon who was sent into exile for trying to depose the Demon Overlord of the past years.

History[]

Early Life[]

Fenric was an ancient demon. He was sent into exile in the Province of Hunan, China, as punishment for trying to depose the Demon Overlord centuries before. To protect himself from the pain of isolation, Fenric would constantly use an Apathy Amulet to numb his emotions.

Throughout the Series[]

In "No Hablo Brujeria", Abigael Jameson-Caine and Harry Greenwood came to Fenric's lair to search for answers on the symbols on the Stone Tablet. The demon claimed to have achieved inner peace with his situation, but Abigael refused to believe him. She rummaged through his place until she found the apathy amulet. She activated it and rendered herself and Harry both emotionless for a short period of time. Fenric offered to give Harry the translation he sought if Harry would kill Abigael for him, as she is the current Overlord. Harry, however, decided against it. He took the translation from Fenric and then left with Abigael. Alone again, Fenric screamed out.

In "Perfecti Is the Enemy of Good", Maggie Vera posed as Abigael to visit Fenric: he was one of few ancient demons alive who knows the password to activate a golem. Fenric has become distraught since the last visit. "Abigael" orders him to give her the password. Fenric, however, wants something in return: freedom. Knowing that Fenric would turn on Abigael the moment she released him, Maggie improvised a fake spell by snapping his cellar key in half and incepting him with the emotion of power. He gave her the password and attempted to use his powers on her, as Abigael already suspected he would if his powers were restored. To his agonizing surprise, he realized he had been tricked by a witch. Maggie left him the Memory Mirror and took off with the password. Fenric swore to destroy her one day.

Personality[]

Fenric is manipulative, cunning, unloyal, and known to be an extremely violent demon. After spending centuries in exile, he has grown tired of the loneliness and desperately longs for freedom.

Physical Appearance[]

Fenric wears ancient attire. He has long white hair that extends to his shoulders, wrinkled skin, and a large nose.

Powers and Abilities[]

Active Powers

• Mind Melding: The ability to meld one's mind with another being's in order to access the other's subconscious. He has been shown to be able to access the minds of two beings at once.

Passive Powers

• Immortality: The ability to live a potentially eternal life.
• Demonic Translation: The ability to read and understand demonic languages. As an ancient demon, Fenric is also able to translate demonic languages that have fallen out of use. He is one of the few remaining demons that knows the word needed to activate golems.

Equipment[]

• Apathy Amulet: The amulet allowed Fenric to turn off his emotions temporarily as a means to escape the pain of isolation.
• Memory Mirror: Maggie left him the mirror as exchange for the password to activate a golem.
• Vanquishing Spear of Trantor: Fenric used it to threaten Maggie.

Trivia[]

• There is a plot hole associated with Fenric that, in Perfecti Is the Enemy of Good it is stated that he was deprived of his powers as punishment, but, in No Hablo Brujeria, he somehow is able to use his Mind Melding on Abigael and Harry.
  • It is possible that he was stripped of all but his passive or supportive powers, as he is also shown to have kept his immortality to some capacity.
• Due to the cancellation of the series and Fenric never appearing after "Perfecti Is the Enemy of Good", it is unknown what became of him after he obtained the magic of the Memory Mirror and exactly what he planned to do to get revenge against Maggie.
