Daddy's Girls was a Syndication network sitcom series created by Brenda Hampton & David Landsberg, starring Dudley Moore in the lead role.
The show aired from September 21 to October 12, 1994, lasting for only three episodes.
Plot[]
The series centered on Dudley Walker, the owner of a fashion house in New York who loses his wife and his business partner (who were having a secret affair together) after they run off together, leaving Dudley as the primary caretaker of his three daughters: Amy, Samantha & Phoebe.
Cast[]
- Dudley Moore as Dudley Walker
- Stacy Galina as Amy Walker
- Meredith Scott Lynn as Samantha Walker
- Keri Russell as Phoebe Walker
- Harvey Fierstein as Dennis Sinclair
- Phil Buckman as Scar
- Alan Ruck as Lenny
Production[]
"Daddy's Girls" was Dudley Moore's penultimate on-screen job and his last regular TV series. He later attributed his difficulties during the production of the show to the early stages of progressive supranuclear palsy (the disease that ultimately led to his death in 2002).
Reception[]
Although Harvey Fierstein earned praise for his performance, "Daddy's Girls" was hated by critics. New York magazine called the series "Despised, reviled."
Entertainment Weekly, somewhat prophetically, found Dudley Moore to be "wan and confused."
The Dallas Morning News could only say that "Daddy's Girls isn't horrendously bad", but predicted that it would not last until Christmas; indeed, the show was placed "on hiatus" after only three episodes aired.
