Cover up

Cover Up was a CBS network action\adventure series created by Greg A. Larson which aired from September 22, 1984 to April 6, 1985, lasting for one season & 22 episodes.

Plot[]

The series centered on a fashion photographer and a veteran special forces soldier posing as her model go on intelligence missions around the world.

Cast[]

  • Jennifer O'Neill as Dani Reynolds
  • Jon-Erik Hexum as Mac Harper (1984)
  • Antony Hamilton as Jack Striker (1984-85)
  • Richard Anderson as Henry Towler

Production[]

On October 12, 1984 during a break between filming scenes on the set, Jon-Erik Hexum became bored with the filming delays and began playing Russian roulette with what he believed was a harmless .44 Magnum prop gun and jokingly placed it to his temple and pulled the trigger.

The shot sent the wadding from the blank cartridge at Hexum's skull, driving a bone fragment the size of a quarter into his brain and causing massive hemorrhaging. He was rushed to the hospital where he eventually was declared brain dead.

On October 18, 1984, Hexum was taken off life support; he was 26 years old at the time of his death. After his death, he was replaced by Antony Hamilton for the remainder of the series' run.

As "Cover Up" continued to air throughout the winter of 1984–85, the ratings held up, but CBS ultimately canceled the series after its first season due to mediocre ratings.
