The White Crystal is the first of three crystals found in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It offers a weakened source of magic power.
Characteristics[]
According to the first person the player will likely talk to after starting a new game, buying a White Crystal should be the first thing to do in the town of Jova. It can be purchased from the gypsy wandering on the right end of town for 50 Hearts.
According to the instruction booklet, the White Crystal "offers a weakened source of magical power". It allows the player to see hidden platforms. This item will be needed in order to see an invisible platform that moves up and down at the entrance of Berkeley Mansion, the first mansion of the game, making it a lot easier to enter.
It can be traded for a Blue Crystal from the Vampire Killer in the town of Aljiba, which has the same ability as the White Crystal, but also allows to drain bodies of water to reach areas below.

If you have a White Crystal: "I WOULD LIKE TO EXCHANGE A WHITE CRYSTAL FOR A BLUE ONE" If you do not have a White Crystal: "I REFUSE TO EXCHANGE MY CRYSTAL FOR YOURS." - Even without being in possession of the White Crystal, the player is still able to stand on invisible platforms (e.g.: they can make a leap of faith at the initial body of water immediately after entering the first mansion to successfully hop onto the first invisible platform). However, due to its requirement for trading it with other, more powerful crystals in order to access other areas of the game later on, the White Crystal is mandatory to purchase.
