Edith (not to be confused with Miss Edith Anthrope) is a lunch lady who works at Jerome Horwitz Elementary. In her sole major role, she serves as the love interest of Benjamin Krupp.
Appearance[]
Edith is a fair-skinned, somewhat plump woman with dark brown hair (with a long fringe swept), freckles and blue eyes. She wears a hairclip, a polka dot dress with an apron, yellow gloves, and Mary Janes.
History[]
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie[]
Edith is the shy lunch lady with a secret crush on Principal Benjamin Krupp. When Edith brings Krupp a tuna casserole (that took a whole week to make) with his name on it, Krupp is upset and stammers out that he has a school that needs running before hurrying back into his office. Edith, disappointed, walks away with her casserole and Krupp returns out, running after her for the casserole after apparently realizing he forgot it.
She later asks if Krupp liked her casserole; unknown to her, Mr. Krupp was hypnotized with the 3-D Hypno Ring into the comic book superhero, Captain Underpants. While he does tell her he did never remember eating the casserole, he also compliments her about her eye color, which makes her blush.
Later, she's seen throwing leftovers into a envenomed metallic barrel, which Professer Poopypants and Melvin Sneedly use to fuel The Turbo Toilet 2000 (and also is what gives Captain Underpants true superpowers).
At the end, thanks to George Beard and Harold Hutchins's prank for good, she ends up going on a date with Krupp. Unfortunately, The Talking Toilets attack the restaurant they are dining at. Mr. Krupp snaps his fingers, accidentally becoming Captain Underpants and making Edith admire him even more as he rushes off to save the day.
The Xtreme Xploits of the Xplosive Xmas[]
Edith, along with three other Christmas carolers, briefly appears when George and Harold suggest ways to "upgrade" the beloved winter holiday. In this case, they propose replacing Christmas carolers with Holi-DJs. She later appears again in the queue for the Mega Mechalition Derby. After George and Harold bring Santa Claus back to his senses and return Christmas to normal, Edith and the other carolers celebrate Christmas by singing on the streets.
Trivia[]
- It was stated in the artbook that Edith was originally conceived as a nuisance that would randomly show up around Krupp. This was later changed, and she became Krupp's love interest instead.
- Prior to the movie's release, many fans believed she was the film's version of Miss Anthrope due to them sharing the same first name.
- Despite not being created by him, Dav Pilkey (thanks to a fan who suggested the idea to him) declared her birthday to be on February 14th, Valentine's Day.
- She does not appear in The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, likely because the series is primarily based on the novels rather than the film. However, she does make a cameo as a Christmas caroler in The Xtreme Xploits of the Xplosive Xmas.
- Edith is the only character to have colored eyes.
