Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]
Campaign[]
Russia appears in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as the location of the mission Old Comrades, in the city of St. Petersburg, where Kyle "Gaz" Garrick and John Price are hunting The Butcher. A rogue Russian military regiment known as Barkov's Forces also appear as the main antagonists of the game's campaign, led by the power-hungry General Roman Barkov, who is responsible for occupying the small neighboring nation of Urzikstan.
Spec Ops[]
After the death of General Roman Barkov, through an unknown benefactor, the terrorist group known as Al-Qatala is heavily funded, and is able to form an actual military, using it to invade the small Eurasian nation of Kastovia. In response, the Russian Federation under the Allegiance faction allies with the Western Powers, represented by the Coalition to form Armistice - a temporary alliance between the two factions against Al-Qatala's invasion of Kastovia.
