Preview HZ077: Randou Returns to His Hometown

I had been wanting more episodes for the RVT members. Hopefully there is some backstory here.
 
And summary, from Dephender.

While visiting Randou's hometown Asagi City, Liko and the others meet the fishing boat rental operator Mamoru, a passionate fan of Kinjiro, a movie star of yesteryear. Mamoru tells them about his enthusiasm for the "VS Samehader" movie series Kinjiro starred in.

Well, here's a good opportunity to see if Horizons has any tangential link back to the original series, though I have little hope or care for that. It does make sense that they are in Johto to hunt down an Entei that I am not sure why I didn't think about that much sooner.

If only I actually cared about Ludlow as a character, this episode's main premise might mean something to me. Oh well. (His hometown being in the Johto region kinda explains why he has a Quagsire, huh?)

At least Olivine City'll be featured, that's pretty cool I guess. Although I'm really not a big fan of this world tour region-hopping business, especially since in the episode right before this they were still in Kitakami/Paldea. The region-hopping is a little too jarring for me. I wasn't fond of it in Journeys, and I'm not fond of it now.

This region hopping, while having improved on Journeys, still isn’t good imo as it carries with it similar problems. Because of jumping around from region to region, none of the regions end up feeling like more than set pieces for a particular plot. Paldea while having gotten the lion’s share of time spent there isn’t remotely fleshed out with all lore to it that doesn’t have to do with Terapagos just left on the cutting room floor.

Galar, which got absolutely shafted in Journeys, we got all of a single city and a mine we hadn’t seen in Journeys before the rest of it took place out in the wilderness. And now we’ve left Kitakami after barely touching on anything with its location or characters (honestly, Carmine suffered the worst having been basically used as nothing more than a joke character, having nothing of her character growth).

Just as with Journeys, this whole region hopping thing just makes the world feel so much smaller and less lively and I’m hoping that next series will be more grounded so we can actually experience the life of a region again. How we went from Alola and giving us a full view of the culture and life to these past 2 series is honestly beyond me
 
The Brave Olivine comes from Olivine City...I feel dumb for not thinking about it earlier.

Ludlow being an actor in the past is actually very cool and gives a new meaning to all his weird sayings. I wonder if tte might own a third Pokemon.
 
I'm happy we're finally going to see regions other than Paldea for the first time in a long while. We've been in Paldea for like an entire year. This flying ship can take us anywhere, I want them to at least step foot in every region.
 
Return of Mighty G here we go and can he still keep his identity or get exposed? Shall see.
