Sir Richard[1] is a Crusaders minifigure introduced in 1984.
Description[]
Sir Richard has a bright blue torso with silver chestplate printing; bright red arms and hip; black legs; and a dark grey helmet with a bright red feather plume. As is the case with all other minifigures prior to 1989, he has the basic smiling face.
Background[]
Sir Richard is an important knight among the Crusaders, protecting the King's Castle from the Black Falcons. Therefore, the Wizard of Avalon and Black Knight desire to capture him in order to rule the land.[2]
In the Captain Indigo comics, Captain Indigo uses the Zarconian Jewel to teleport in the middle of Sir Richard's jousting tournament,[3] just before the Black Falcons attack. Sir Richard and Captain Indigo build a shelter to protect themselves from the archers, and Indigo tells Richard about his quest for the Zarconian Jewel. Polka Dot and the Blacksmith knock down the Black Falcons, leaving them defeated at the feet of Sir Richard. After saying farewell to Sir Richard, Captain Indigo and Polka Dot return to Planet Zark.[4]
