Bravely Default - Dark

Dark in Bravely Default .

Dark (ダーク, Dāku?) is a recurring dark-elemental spell in the Bravely series. In most titles it is often one of the strongest Black Magic spells available to players, dealing major dark-elemental magic damage to enemies.

In Bravely Default II, Dark is given its own upgraded forms, Darkra and Darkga. Now part of the Necromancy command skillset, it serves as the base magic of the spell family and deals significantly less damage. The new spell Doomsday instead serves as the strongest form of dark-elemental magic for the game's Necromancy command, possessing the same effect and MP cost that Dark did previously.

Appearances[]

Bravely Default[]

Dark is a level 6 Black Magic spell, serving as the game's strongest Black Magic spell. It deals major dark damage to one target. It costs 80 MP to use. It can be bought in Grandship (ch 5) for 6400 pg.

Victoria uses the spell against the party in all battles except the first and last.

Dark is also a level 6 Sword Magic spell, learned from the same scroll. It imbues a weapon with a high-power dark effect for ten turns. This will raise attack power by the amount of the magic effect.

Bravely Second: End Layer[]

Dark is a level 6 Black Magic spell. It deals major dark damage to one target. Due to the inclusion of the new Flare spell, it is now the second strongest Black Magic spell in the game, but serves as the game's best means of inflicting powerful dark-elemental damage. It costs 80 MP to use. It can be bought in Caldisla and Chompshire for 12800 pg.

Bravely Default II[]

Dark is the default Necromancy spell for the Arcanist job, being available at job level 1. The spell deals dark-elemental magic damage on a target or all targets on the field. Due to the associated job being unlocked late into the game, it is often best unused unless the player is facing against weaker enemies. It costs 15 MP to cast.

When combined with the Red Mage's Nuisance specialty passive, it has a chance of inflicting the Dread and Contagion statuses on the damaged target. Dark will also deal damage to the caster if they have the Arcanist's All In passive active.

Many lower leveled demon-type enemies are also able to use Dark in battle. The damage inflicted varies on whether it is single or group casted on the targets.
