Zodd's vision of the Falcon of Light.

After the battle, Zodd sits atop a pile of corpses, watching crows peck at the bodies. Bored of confronting weaker men and apostles, he yearns for a worthy opponent, his only real rival being the Skull Knight. His thoughts turn to Guts, the "Black Swordsman", who is rumored to have slayed several apostles. Suddenly, Zodd experiences a vision of a glowing white falcon that speaks to him. Frustrated, Zodd screams that he desires to fight only the strongest beings. He transforms into his behemoth released form and charges at the falcon, but it zips around him and flies away. At that moment, a seam appears on Zodd's left horn, splitting it and his face in two.

Zodd wakes up from the vision to find himself still atop the pile of corpses, but his left horn has actually broken off, and a large bleeding gash is on his forehead. Staring up at the sky filled with circling crows, Zodd hears a disembodied voice delivering a prophecy: "When the sky falls at the holy ground where blind sheep gather and erect a pillar of fire, it will come. The desired will come."

Elsewhere, Guts and Puck come upon a deserted village filled with piles of corpses inside a church. Fearing the spirits of the dead may attack even in daylight, Puck points to a large monument of stone slabs use by ancients as a shrine to elves. Due to its elven origin, he suggests the spirits will be less incline to pervade there.

Guts has a nightmare of a giant pole in the center of a pile of wood, topped with a falcon symbol of the Holy See. Under a full moon, a chained Casca is dragged to the pole by an angry mob and burned alive.

The Demon Child appears to issue Guts a warning about Casca.

Guts awakens with a start, suspecting the dream to be caused by incubi, but then notices the small, deformed figure of the Demon Child hiding beneath a shaded stone slab. Guts questions it about the dream, but instead of answering, the Demon Child transforms its face into Casca's and repeats the word "danger" as its face ignites. Despite the flames, it continues to warn Guts, echoing the same prophecy Zodd heard: "Danger... Hurry... When the sky falls at the holy ground where the blind sheep gather and erect a pillar of fire... Hurry... Quickly..."

As the last embers of the Demon Child fade away, Guts realizes it was warning him that something has happened to Casca.
