The Rustbucket (alternatively spelled Rust Bucket)[ms 1][PoE 1] is Max Tennyson's RV. It is outfitted with an array of Plumbers' technology including jet propulsion and laser weaponry.
Appearance[]
- The main body is white with a worn-out appearance, showing signs of age and wear and tear.
- There are red and blue stripes running along the sides
- Multiple antennas and satellite dishes are mounted on the roof, suggesting it's equipped for communication or surveillance
- It has large, rugged tires suitable for off-road driving.
- The wheels have a dirty appearance, further emphasizing the vehicle's aged and well-used state.
History[]
Main Timeline[]
Original Series[]
In The Visitor, the Rustbucket gets blown into pieces, and was able to be reassembled in less than one full day.
In Ben 4 Good Buddy, it is shown that various clicks and button pushing can create a type of effect to the Rustbucket, such as firing ice cubes or making the hydraulics turn on.
It was destroyed sometime before the events of Alien Force and replaced by the Rustbucket 2.[note 1]
Alternate Timelines[]
Original Series Future[]
In Ben 10,000, the Rustbucket is upgraded with new advanced hi-technology. The inside also looks quite bright. The RV can also fly. A door in the Rustbucket also leads to a chamber which contains the Null Void Projector which had to be moved due to Dr. Animo's actions.
Ben 10: Race Against Time[]
The first time the Rustbucket appeared in the movie was after Heatblast "destroyed" Eon and the theme song came on. The Rustbucket was blown to pieces by Eon later in the movie as he tried to kill Ben.
Technology[]
- Turbo engine (later upgraded by Cooper)
- Plumber Map: A map that shows all Plumber base locations.
- Thrusters: Powerful jet thrusters deploy from the rear and sides of the RV.
- Grappling Cable: A high-tensile strength cable with a spike at the end to attach onto things.

- Caltrops: Small spiked balls are deployed behind the RV to pop a pursuers tires.
- Autopilot: A system that drives the Rustbucket autonomously. It was initially faulty and could only travel in straight lines[1] until it was rewired by Cooper.[pop-up 3][4]
- Dream Entering Machine: Allows the users to enter another person's dream. It was displayed in Perfect Day.
Rooms[]
Bathroom[]
The Rustbucket has a small bathroom located toward the rear of the vehicle. The toilet is infamous for requiring three people to flush it.
Bedroom[]
The bedroom is located at the rear of the vehicle. When Gwen and Ben were on their road trips, Ben slept on the upper bed while Gwen slept on the lower bed. When not used for sleeping, the beds stow away and the bedroom converts to a lounge area with a U-shaped couch and coffee table.
Kitchen[]
The Rustbucket has a kitchenette on the left side of the vehicle, opposite of the entry door. Next to the door on the right side is a small, two-seat dinette table. Max prepares meals, most of which Ben and Gwen don't like.

Trivia[]
- Despite having state-of-the-art armaments and capabilities, the Rustbucket has a faulty toilet and a broken air conditioner.
- Max Tennyson often referred to the Rustbucket as "family."[5]
- The Plumbers designed and built four Rustbuckets. Of the other three, one was destroyed and two were in storage at Mt. Rushmore.[pop-up 1][1]
- Rustbucket 2 is presumably one of the remaining spares.
- The Rustbucket was equipped with so many gadgets that even Max forgot about them.[pop-up 4][6]
- The Rustbucket ran on gasoline as part of its disguise.[pop-up 5][7]
- A common fault in many old motorhomes, the beds do not have safety bars. As a result, both Ben and Gwen have fallen out of their beds at one time or another.
- The Rustbucket could go 300 miles an hour.[5]
- It took 3 people to flush its toilet.[5]
- Its license plate number was "S81Z1M". Translating each number to their place in the alphabet spells "SHAZAM", a reference to the 1974 show that inspired the road trip aspect of the original series.[DR 1]
- Its design is heavily based on the GMC motorhome.
- The Rustbucket is similar to Lone Starr's space Winnebago from the 1987 film Spaceballs.
Notes[]
- ↑ Initially, it was implied that Max bought the Rustbucket 2 because the original was destroyed in Race Against Time,[pop-up 2][2] which was canon during Alien Force.[DM 1] This is slightly retconned as the events of Race Against Time are later stated to take place in an alternate timeline.[3] The current canon explanation for the original Rustbucket's destruction is unknown.[BTP 1]
